' The meeting was opened in regular form. Installation ceremonies 0 were held for the new officer®: Mary J. Runyon, president; Mary Jo Kaehr, vice president; and Mrs. Irene Schuster, treasurer. The program and goals were reviewed for the coming year and everyone was reminded that the dues are to be paid by the last of September. It was announced that all orders for cards are to be in by “ the last meeting in October. It was also announced that the next social meeting will be held at ■ the Elks home. It U to be a dinner meeting with the officers servx ing as hostesses. " The meeting was then closed in Regular form. Presbyterian fair ' Is Set For Nov. 3 Hold Annual Fajr At Decatur Church .7 Wednesday, November 3, has been designated as the date for the annual all-day Hair by the fair planning board of the women’s association of the First Presbyterian* church. Monthly meetings of the board have been held during the summer and plans formulated for setting up several new booth®. Work has been accomplished toward new items as well as the ever popular apron®, needlework, dolls, stufifed animals and novel wooden toys for children. The public is invited to attend the dinner and supper to be served In the church basement. Mrs. George Bair and Mis. R. C. Herah are in charge of the meals. Mre. Cecil Melchl and Mrs. Paul Saucer will direct the serving of the food in the dining room. James Scott Dies Sunday Afternoon James Alien Scott, 66, of Lancaster township, Wells county, died Sunday afternoon after a long illness. Surviving Are his wife, Devona; four daughter®, Mrs. Estel Smuts of Zanesville, Mrs, John Duffy of Hartford City, Mrs. Dean Mounsey and Mrs. Harold Morgan of Wells county; a son, William G. Scott of Orland, and a brother, Vaughn Scott of Bluffton. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Prospect Methodist church, the Rev. Walter Meechum and the Rev. Edwin R. Green officiating. Burial will be in ■the Prospect, cemetery. The body was removed to the Thoma funeral home in Bluffton, where friends may call until time of the services. Miss Bertha Landis [To Purdue Training Miss ‘"’Bertha Landis, apprentice home demonstration agent here for the past month, will leave Tuesday for four days special training at Purdue University. 4th Degree Knights Hold Picnic Sunday Approximately 60 couples attended the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbue Sunday evening picnic in the George Schultz woods east of the city.. Barbecued chicken prepared over an open fire was served to the picknkkers. Raymond Patrick was the chef in charge. Julius Baker was master of ceremonies for the outdoor event and later in the evening Carl Geels directed square dancing, a large cement slab being used for the floor. man passenger was hurt fatally early today when a Cruzeiro Do Sul Airliner with 26 person* aboard crashed? in Kio de Jauerio bay. Twenty-two passengers and four crew members were rescued from the bay iby a police launch and a passing ship. The woman survivor died aboard the launch of injuries received in the crash. Roscoe Shady Rites Tuesday Afternoon Roscoe Shady, 58. of Bluffton, died Sunday after an illness of 10 days. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges.
