SOCIETY SHOWER HONORS V ARDENA HIRSCHY A surprise shower was held Sunday afternoon for Miss Ardena Hirschy, who will become the bride of Charles Lehman of Berne on September 26. Upon arrival Miss Hirschy was presented with a corsage of gladioli. Gifts were arranged in a gaily decorated wheelbarrow. . Those present were Airs, Ellis Lehman, Mrs. Alfred Hirschy. BPW TO OPEN SEASON WEDNESDAY The fall opening meeting of the •Decatur 'Business and Professional Women’s club will take pljee_Wednesday at 6:30 p. m. at the Moose home. A meeting of the officers at 6 p. tn. will precede the dinner and business session. The program for the evening will feature a discussion of "Our Federation" by Miss Joan Wemhoff, dire<tor of district five. A certificate of merit was awarded Lawrence "Bud" Auspaugh, local photographer, by the photographers’ association of America, at the annual convention held in Chicago this week. The award includes the hanging of the P'cture

Hepfer, 27, of Pendleton, was free under $3,000 bond today on four charges of forgery involving cashing two treasury checks. Hepfer said he cashed checks of $20.20 and $143.60 for two strangers who bought pound cans of coffee from him on two separate occasions. He admitted he did not ask identification from either. Handwriting experts opined that Hepfer schawled all indorsements on the checks but he has steadfastiy dented the charges.
