Top Teams In Both Majors Keep Winning NKW YORK (INS) —Casey Stengel has it al) figured out. "Keep winning,” be has told his Yankee charges, “until we get a chance to Ptev the Indians ourselves.” ' Stengel told his world champion New Yorkers ,l>efore winning their ninth straight at Philadelphia Wednesday night that "we just have to keep winning every single day until -we meet them fellows (the Indians). Cause If we lose in the meantime, what good will it do to beat them later if they pull further ahead*" The odds right now' axe with Casey it would although he is three games behind. The Yankee chart from here on tn is loaded with games against the Athletics, whom they beat for the 11th straight time Wednesday night, 6 to 1. The Indians not only are top heavy with games against the pesky fourth-place Tigers but meet Paul Richards' third-place Chicago cljb six more times as compared to three for the Yanks. - Add this to the five games the Indians still have against the Yanks and it means the Tribe must play firet-division clubs much snore often than the Yankees do. Stengel also can call on a steadier pitching staff in the next few weeks. Whitey Ford gained his seventh straight Wednesday night. Harry Byrd has won six of his last seven decisions. Bob Grim, who will work in Boston over the weekend, has taken 11 of his last 12. That’s ‘{3 out of 25 for three of them. ISd Lopat, Tom Morgan and Ralph Branca make Stengel optimistic and Johnny Sain is still relief king. Casey’s hitters are picking up momentum with 67 safeties in the last six games. And the home run Jail is back with 16 in the last 12 games. Ford allowed five hits while gaining his 13th win in 19 decisions Wednesday night. The Bombers
