BLUE CREEK HOME-COMING HELD SUNDAY The annual home-Cbming of Blue ' Creek township, sponsored by the 'Methodist church of Salem, wan held Sunday. The event was attended by 200 people. In the morning Sabbath school and church was held, and at noon a basket dinner was served on the church lawn with the Rev. Davis offering the dinner prayer. ■ The afternoon program, whleh was called to order by the president, Roy Davis, began with the congregation singing T*WIH Sing the Wondrous Story.” The welcome was given by Mrs. Rue Strayer and the response by (Mrs. Will Dellinger. Shd pointed out the many improvements the church made in the past 25 years. A selection was then sung by the mixed quartet followed with a duet by 'Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, Fort Wayne, and tlso a song by the Raudenbush rother's quartet. Mrs. Davis sang ”1 Ixive Thy Presence” and there were a few remarks by Rev. Davis. An offering was then conducted. The program continued with instrumental music by Don Davison and music by a quartet consisting of Austin Merriman, Omer Merriman and daughters, Rowena and Sue. Mrs. Carl Sehug read “In the Garden of Your Heart” and greetings were read by Mrs. Chester

ADD SOCIETY LINEN SHOWER HONORS > MISS VIRGINIA MITCHEL The colors pink and green were used for decorating purposes at the Friday evening Jinen shower 1 honoring Miss Virginia Mitchell, ; bride-elect of Edward Nussbaum. The event was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Mitchel, with Mrs. ' Floyd Mitchel as co-hostess. The honored guest was presented with a white lace handkerchief
when she arrived at the shower. Games were then played and prizes awarded to the winners, who in turn gave them to Miss Mitchell. Receiving prizes were Mrs. Kenneth Longenburger, (Mrs. Russell Mitchel, Mrs. Glen Bluhm and Mrs. Ralph Bluhm. The honored guest’s gifts wer£ arranged on a table which was covered with a lace cloth adorned with pink and mint green bows. After the gifts were opened, refreshments were served to the following: the Mesdamefe Russel Bluhm, Fred Nussbaum, Otto Longenberger, Ralph Bluhm, Gene Bluhm, all of Monroe; Kenneth Longenberger, Fort Wayne; Glen Jones, Van Wtert, O.; GeWe Mitchel, Floyd Mitchel, Ralph Mitchel, all of Decatur, and the Misses Carolyn Mitchel, Marjorie Nussbaum, Karen Nussbaum, Doris Ann Bluhm, and the honored guest, all of Monroe. ■Unable to attend were Mrs. Harold Barger and Mrs. Richard Peterson, both of Decatur. HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUBS NAME OFFICERS Officers were elected at the summer meeting of the Adams county Home Demonstration clubs held at Silver Lake last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are: Martha Essex, chairman ; Aleta Leisure, vice chairman; Edna Davison, secretary; Myrtle Neadstlne, assistant secretary, and Barbara Hawbegger, food chairman. The theme of this year’s program was, "Vacationing In Hawaii.” Handicrafts of basket weaving, leather tooling, shell work and tube painting were enjoyed by the home makers. A highlight of tSe three dafy retreat <was the Hah fry served by the famous Johah cliub. Mrs. Minnie Teeple of this city, matriarch of the group, was among those present. Miss Anna R. Williams, Homes Demonstration agent, was instrumental in planning the entertaining program. The home makers adopted the theme, "Swiss Originals” for next year’s gathering. MR. & MRS. B. F. SHROYER HONOR GRANDCHILDREN Melissa and Peter Mayclin were honored recently on their ninth and fifth birthdays, respectively, 1 by their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Shroyer, Hilltop Home. The affair included a picnic dinner served on the patio. Present were the honored guests; 1 their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark Mayclin; a sister, Susie; Edgar Mutecbler, and the'host afed hostess. : 1 tw <iws : AUXILIARY SPONSORS CARD PARTY The D.A.V. auxiliary sponsored a card party for the patients at the Fort Wayne Veterans hospital Thursday evening. Games were played and refreshments were served. Local people who attended the event were Mabie Ehrsam chairman of the hospital committee, Mr. and Mrs. David Smith, Esther Ray,Mildred Beltz, Dorothy Stalter, Martha Sommers and Catherine Stalter. MISS MARCILE MANLEY TO MARRY AUGUST 21 ■Miss Marcile Manley, youngest daughter of Chauncey Manley, of Decatur, will wed Leonard J. King, son of IMf. and Mrs. John King., of Decatur, Saturday, August 21. The Rev. Herbert Schumm will read the double-ring ceremony in the Church of God, Willshire, O. Unit 4 of the U. Lamont, Two Others Cited For Contempt Refused To Answer McCarthy Questions WASHINGTON (INS) — The senate has cited wealthy New Yorker Corlls Lamont and two others for contempt of congress because they refused to answer Sen. Joseph McCarthy's questions about Communism. Cited in addition to Lamont were Albert Shadowitz, who worked at the prtvktely > operated federal communications' laboratory at Nutley, N.J., and Abraham Unger, a New York attorney. The contempt moves against Shadowitz and Unger were approved by voice vote Monday night. Shadowitz declined last Dec. 16 to answer questions about Communism saying he had been advised to do so by Dr. Albert Einstein, the famed physicist. The three cases will now be referred to the justice department for Schurger Visits Southern Indiana Severin .Schurger, Decatur attorney and Democrat candidate for judge of the Indiana appellate , court will leave early Wednesday morning for a one-day swing into southern. Indiana, Schurger is scheduled to appear at several Democrat meetings in three southern Indiana counties.
