If the United States walks out of the United Nations the Reds will take over. Ae president Eisenhower said in his press conference “we must have an international forum to express our views.” Ttio President’s support of the UN' io opposed by many at hie party leadens, many of whom do not have one spec of responsibility in the plan to untangle world problems. —0 0 President Bieeohower was peeved over Gen. Mark Clark’s remark that the United States should break diplomatic relations with Russia and her satellites. The President inferred that such conversation was like “shooting from the hip”. The retired Gen. Clark is now president of the Citadel, the famous military school in South Carolina. The nation's foreign policy will be formed largely from the attitude of the President. regardless of sniping from the sidelines —-o——o —- Hoodlums bombed a soft drink bottling works tn Fort Wayne and the only reason given for such an unlawful act is that the plant is on the fringe of an area where labor trouble exists. The management of the Fort Wayne concern said no misunderstanding existed there. Differences should be settled peacefully and not 'by bombs, for that is the way wars are started. . 0_ o Nebraska will have the distinction of electing three United States senators in November. of four years and a third for a two month tenure. Candidates oh the Republican and Democratic tickets were named in Tuesday’s primary, along with party nomine* for governor. Nebraskans will have the lion’s share of political speeches this fall., la the Republican column now, the Cornbusker state has gone Democratic in political upheavals. -—0 o In Justice to the Girl Scouts organisation. the American Legion at its annual convention in Washington "this month should sift the charges of the IHincte Legion that the Girl Scout handbook is un-American. In Indiana, the Hammond Post adopted a resolution asking the national convention to fully examine the allegation that the handbook contains improper influences. It te unfair to the Girt Scouts, the volunteer workers and those who believe in the Girl Scout program to have these ugly charges hang fire. —0 0k— Arkansas Democrats named a gubernatorial nominee in a runoff election and Idaho voters named Republican and Democratic senatorial candidates in yesterday’s primaries. The Democratic nomination in Arkansas is equivalent to election and in Idaho former Democratic senator Glen Taylor will oppose Sen. Henry Dworsbak, who was in the national limelight during ‘ the Army-McCarthy hearings. This offyear elections promise to be interesting, especially in" those states that .will elect United States senators.
