I have the facts of the resolution passed at the Illinois convention, American Legion, in my possession. also the rebuttal printed editorially by the Chicago SunTimes for the Scouts, and will gladly share them with anyone who wishes this information. long-range program to make highways adequate to carry immediate and future traffic needs. He said the group apparently believed that the federal government should be primarily responsible for financing an inter-state high way system. The group also discussed the possible creation by the federal government of a loan agency which could either make turnpike loans to the states on reasonable interest rates or terms, or guarantee such loans. The governor said that he, Gov. Lawrence Wetherby of Kentucky, and the President discussed a prol>osed Cincinnati-to-Louisville turnpike in connection with the subsidyproposal. - Wetherby pointed out, Lausche reported, that~ an engineering survey showed traffic on a Cincinnati to Louisville turnpike would provide enough revenue only to rtitire a 75 million Investment However, the Kentuckian contended, the roadway would cost SIOO million.

New Vole Thursday On Studebaker Plan SOUTH BEND, Ind. (INS) — Some 3,000 Studebaker Corporation employes who didn’t vote when Local No. 5 CIO-UAW balloted last week to reject a proposed pay cut, are expected to cast their votes on the proposal Thursday. Louis J. Horvath, president of the United Auto Workers local; said that the mass meeting Thursday afternoon at School Field is being held in response to petitions signed by rank-and-file union members. Voting on the cut, which company officials have indicated is the only alternate to a shut-downi is to be done by machine, and the ballots will be tallied by a firm of certified public accountants. When the union voted Aug. 5, about half of the 10,060 workers were on hand. The proposal was rejected at that time. However, indications today were that as many as 8,000 men and women will crowd into the mass meeting Thursday. Horvath and other union leaders had argued that by accepting the immediate cut, the workers will enable Studebaker to compete with the Big Three — General Motors, will get higher pay. Chrysler and Ford —and ultimately
