The aid authorization biH, provicing 3 billion 100 million dollars,' already has cleared two legislative committees on the strength of their recommendations. Knowland said the question of whether congress might have to return this fall for a special senate or two-house session on sanctioning sovereignty for West Germany was still “up in the air." He said more may be known about this in the coming week, but indicated it was more a possibility than a probability because the decision hinges on several factors. Other sources voiced doubt that it would become necessary, especially if France ratifies the European defense pact in August. ,■/ O V '

GENEVA PARLEY (Ceetleee® Pr»» O—> a treaty providing for complete independence of Vietnam and that they can, therefore, act in behalf of that country. It was recognized that this viewpoint could cause serious complications in connjFtion with the imP le ®entation of the armistice terms, especially since the Vietnamese are supposed to take'part in the mixed armistice commission. It is clear now that there will be no common agreement signed by al lof the nine powers engaged in the Indo-China talks. The original idea of a nine-power guarantee, or even joint approval of the settlement, has been dropped because of U. S. refusal to be a party to any signed agreement with Communist China and the Vietminh rebels. If you have something to sell or rooms for rent, try a Democrat Want Ad. It brings results.
