Female Disorder Helped By Use of Male Hormones
By HERMAN N. WNDESEN, M.B. MALI hormone* are being used to cure a purely female disease, endometriosis. This occurs when the lining membrane of the womb becomes misplaced and attaches itself within the abdominal cavity. Other Organs Affected The lining, or endometrium, as it is known medically, attaches itself onto other organs such as the outside of the womb, the otarie*, the bowel, the bladder, or other surrounding tissue. The reason for the occurrence of this disease is not known, it is fairly common among women, especially those of the childbearing age. Cysts May Form * The misplaced tissue causes disability and pain, and may cause the formation of cysts on the affected organs. The major symptom is severe pain during menstruation. There may be pain and discomfort with intercourse as well as some difficulty In bearing children. The discomfort of this disease is sometimes so great as to indispose and cripple women during certain times of the month. There may be irregular bleeding. Pain Grows Worse As time goes on, the pyp

Will we with? draw and let the Communists take over western Europe: There must be a better way to solve this grave problem than the taunt implied in the senate resolution. Once the ultiipatum is delivered, who will take the blame for the breakdown In foreign relations? Americans agree that the country's highway system should be rebuilt and expanded, but according to President Eisenhower’s plan the federal government will practically take over road building operations from the states. In Indiana, the legislature passed a resolution advocating that the federal government step out of the road building business and let the states collect the two cent a gallon gas tax. The Eisenhower plan calls for the states to join the federal government in a fifty billion dollar program, spaced over the next ten years. Here in Indiana the'-plans for the north-south toll road through the state may be junked, in order to comply' with the President’s plan to rebuild present roads. The governor’s conference which met in New York voiced opposition to federal dictation in road building programs. , .0 Clean Cities:— A woman who has lived in New York for 25 years wrote her newspaper to advise that city to clean up for visitors. She also expressed disapproval of the manners of some of those who serve that city. She says the streets are dirty, the transportation facilities other ■ than subways are muddled, and on the whole she thinks the famous city is in a bad way. She asks what It has to offer outside of the United Nations; and Radio City. These two things are a great deal to offer in themselves and it seems that she has allowed her Irritation at the faults of the city to blind her to some of its virtues. But she is probably right that they should be offered under better conditions. A clean, bright city is always pleasant to visit. Almost every city, large or small, has something to interest visitors. Most cities could also stand s bit of sprucing up. We cannot do anything about cleaning up New York, that is for the people who live there to “do. We can make sure that our own city continues clean and attractive.

Courageous Priest Dies After Suffering Months
PARSONS. Kans. (INS) — The •Rev. Julius Busse,, C. P.. who .when stricken with cancer stirred world admiration with his words of courage and faith, died Tuesday night at Mercy hospital in Parsons. Death came to the 47-yekp-old Passionist priest after months of auffafing. To him it was the answer to prayers and the beginning of a "jourpey to heaven.’’ Last January 17, after he had been told his death was near, Pr. Busse wrote of |is attitude toward death: ”1 am like a young boy who has been promised a present. Why should we regard death with fear. It is a journey from earth to heaven, and who would say the change is not for the better.” These simple words brought him thousands of messages from all over the world. To the unassuming priest, the response was astounding. When told that people of all faiths were praying for him, he was touched. “1 can’’t believe my life is worth It.” he said. From distant places, many persons came to visit the sick priest. Many were men who had served under him when he was chaplain in the 7th Infantry division. The ex-soldiers found in hard to believe that Father Busse was near death. They remembered him as a strapping. 200-pounder, who leaped from foxhole to foxhole under enemy fire carrying out his duties. Fr. Busse said he considered it a blessing to die of cancer because the disease would* give him time to prepare for his death. Physicians were surprised when he continued to live week after week and month after month. Last Easter time, he was improved considerably and members of the hospital staff—with whom he had become a favorite patienthoped that a recovery might take place. But the priest’s condition deteriorated last month, and his suffering mounted steadily. Two hours before he died, his 80-year-o)d mother visited him. After she left, he told a nurse, ”1 am prepared to go now.” ' Death was no stranger to the priest, a one time superior of Detroit's Monastery of T. Paul of the Cross. As a divisional chaplain, Fr. Busse was wounded twice and several times had bullets rip through hia clothes. , One day ne gave the last rites to 60 Rofoan Catholic soldiers. When the war was over. Major Busse had wpn a silver star and a bronze star for ’ gallantry and a purple heart. — Democrat Want Ads Br'np rtssults |
