Pathologists Study Thorne Death Case Board Os Inquiry Reviews Findings CHICAGO (INS) — A special board of inquiry, composed of four pathologists, meets in Chicago today to review the medical findings in the investigation of the mysterious death of Montgomery Ward Thorne. Cook county cornoer Walter E. McCarron called in the patholo gists when police and physicians disagreed with the report of a coroner's physician that the 20-year-old heir to a mail order house fortune died of “unnatural causes,” McCarron said if the reviewing doctors find need for further investigation, Thorne's body will be exhumed. Thorne was found dead in his room in Chicago’s Gold Cost section June 19. Needle marks were discovered on his arms and a hypodermic needle and a small syringe were found taped to the ceiling of a clothes closet. There had been controversy over whether “the poor little rich boy” was a narcotics user. A Fordham university classmate of Thorne's told police Saturday that he accompanied the young heir three times in New York City in search of marijuana, cigarettes and more potent narcotics. His college chum, Charles Magistro, 18. of Akron, 0., was steered to police by an attorney for Thorne's mother, Mrs. Marion ■Tironre:— r — —-~r The attorney, Henry Kalcheim, is spearheading the fight for Mrs. Thorne to set aside a will which virtually eliminated her as a beneficiary of her eon. Kaleheim believes Thorne, “hooked” on drugs, was not competent .when he made out a new will listing his girl friend. M|ureen Ragen, 18. as the main beneficiary. Coroner McCarron said he “won’t buy" Magiatro’s story and added that he has asked New York police to check on facts Magistro related to police. ■ ■ • Ground Flying FARMINGDALE. N. J.
