seys on the Schwartz farm. Among year old son of Frederick Duff, of Hartford township. Larry's father was one of the members of the original 4-H club in thio county 87 years ago. This club included the entire county and met at Monroe. There are now 29 AH clubs in the county. Dairy judging and shotting has improved and changed tremendously in the past few 1 years, Duff stated. The group then moved to the Sylvan Habegger farm, midway between Berne and Monroe on the Tile Mill rpad. Here two Holstein calves were shown, while Everett Rice, D. H. I. A. representative, told the 4-H members how to feed their animals.
Booklets were passed out giving the rules for showing dairy cattle. It was emphasized that canes or sticks were never used when showing dairy animals, although they are used for beef judging. At noon the group' assembled in Lehman Park in Berne for a picnic lunch. Afterwards the morning's lessons were discussed, and each 4-H member was given a chance to bring up hid problems. Casting Company To Observe Anniversary Marks 34th Year In Business In City The Decatur Casting company, which has grown from a small plant employing less than 50 men to a modern plant employing more than 110, will celebrate its 34th year of service Fridayevening at the Fairway restaurant. All employes wit£ five r or more years of service will attend the service pin award dinner. This group includes 59 employes, headed by President Don JifcDaniel, 34 years service; and vice-president Peter E. Rentschler and superintendent Harry G. Young with 33 years service each. The dinner, which has become an annual affair during the past five years, will start at 5 p.m. and will be followed with the distribution of service awards to those who have just completed five years service, and to those who have passed from one fiveyear group into another. The 25-year group includes, besides those mentioned above, the following persons: Jarties C. Strickler, Willard K. Mcßride, Gerald I. Brodbeck, Clifford Marbaugh, and one new member this year—Edith C. Ervin. More than one-third of a century has passed since thjp first heat was poured on June 29, 1920. ■At that, time the Deeatur Casting company Was founded by Don MeDaniel. now president of the company, and members of Rentschler family of Hamilton, Ohio, to handle an overflow of foundry work from the Hamilton Foundry and Machine company. Henry E. Bromer, resident manager of the Decatur Casting Company since 1935, has completed 19 years with the local company, and was previously with the Standard Foundry Cbmpany, of Racine, Wis.,-for a number of years. The company, which originally started with 13 moulders, now employs 30 at rtormal capacity. The casting company makes light gray iron castings for such corporations as Westinghouse Electric at Lima, Qhio; Delcoißemy at Anderson; and Tokheim and Bowser at Fort Wayne. Sev-

eral thousand different kinds of castings are made at the foundry, and a modern pattern storage system keeps the various patterns at the fingertips of the foundry personnel. Delivery by the Decatur Casting company is made by its own trucks wherever quantity permits, and insures prompt service with Bo annoying claims to file for broken or lost castings. The foundry, located on Dayton street, has been in the same location since its founding in 1920 on the site of the Old Ward Fence plant. In 1928 it was necessary to operate an additional factory on Elm street to meet the demands until the main plant was enlarged. in 1939, modern continuous vertical core ovens were installed, which are fired by oil. In the past year a complete metalurgical laboratory has been added to facilitate the development of high strength alloy iron castings. Continuous improvement of health and safety factors for the workers, with a complete compa-ny-paid insurance plan, and an annual summer vacation, have been featured by the company. The Decatur casting company was among the first in Indiana to adopt the Blue Cross insurance plan.
