Report Army Worms In Monroe Township Army worms have been reported in a hay field on the Amos Hirschy farm in Monroe township, county agent L. E. Archbold reported today. Army worms have a voracious appetite for all green ioiiageV and are especially dangerous in- young corn, Archbold states. Z. Poisoned brand bait placed in a ploughed furrow ahead of a moving column of army worms is very effective in fields, the county agent related. In corn a spray of toxaphene or dieldrin is preferred. Farmers should also check their wheat and oat fields for variegated cutworms; these worms spend the day burrowed in the ground, hut feed on the slender green leaves at night. While infestations of both army and variegated cutworms are expected to be light in this part of the state, it will pay the farmer to check now, Arch-

bold states, because of the damage which may be done by these worms in a short time. • Week’s Sewing Buy vp 77 / Z \ • h// / \/ \' VoX 0,1/ / V \vA 1 // i f I ■% 1 f t I l\ ■ g II a L|l ?
