METHODIST W. S. C. S. ENJOY LUNCHEON The members of the Methodist W.' S. C. S. enjoyed a luncheon served in the church dining room 1 Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Paul Edwards opened the 1 meeting with prayer and then presented .Mrs. Virgil Sexton, wife 1 of the new minister, who was a • special guest, and greeted Mrs, W. O Little and Mrs. Ira Huber, 1 former members who were also guests for the afternoon, A ahort_ business session was held and it was decided to send a freshman girl to the leadership training school at North Webster. November 18 was the date anfor the annual New England dinner. The group then adjourned to ( the new chapel where impressive installation services were held for the new officers with Mrs. Delton Passwater in charge. The service ‘ took place in front of the new altar. Preceding the installation a vocal solo. “My Task" was sung by Miss Helen Haubold. A beautiful memorial service for departed members was conducted by Mrs. Paul Edwards during which time “Crossing the Bar,” was played softly on the new chapel organ. Mrs. Ainos Yoder gave a report on the international assembly of the W. S. C. S. which she attended in Milwaukee Hay 25 to 28. Mrs. Lowell Smith was program leader and she chose as her topic, "For the Facing of This Hour." Mrs. Edwards, retiring president, then turned the gavel over to Mrs. Lloyd Cowens, the new president, who in turn presented Mrs. Edwards with a past prseident’s pin. Mrs. Cowens spoke briefly at which time “Bless this House" was played by Mrs. Harry Dailey. The meeting closed with prayer. In charge of the affair was Mrs. Noah Steury, chairman, assisted by the Mesdames James Gott schall, Harold Gay Alva Lawson, Dave Heller, Robert Eeasel, Watson Maddox. Gerald Smith and Erman Johnson. COUPLE TO CELEBRATE 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. William S. Woods of Sturgis, Mich., will observe their-•soth wedding anniversary i June 20’ with open house from two . o'clock to five o’clock. ! Mr. and Mrs. Woods were mar- • ried June' 15, 1904 and they moved to Sturgis in October. 1913? They have seven children': Gerald Os Sturgis; Velma Horarter of Colon, .Mich.; Befesie. Osbon of Sturgis; Curtis of Sturgis; William of Detroit; Mich.; Doris Tuttle of Sturgis and Alpha who died in 1926. They also have ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.. MRS. WILBER LENGERICH ENTERTAINS WEDNESDAY The Profit and Pleasure Home Demonstration club met Wednesday evening with’ Mrs. Wilber Lengerich as hostess. Assisting her was-Mrs. Leonard Schualler. The meeting opened with the club creed and by singing. the song of the month. “Let 'Me Call You Sweetheart." The- roll call was Answered by the twelve members present telling “new ideas for reunion picnics." Devotional services were conducted by Mrs. Joyce Brite, after wlpch Mrs, Ralph Bluhm spoke on activities pertaining to 411 club work. Following the business session, Mrs. Henry Heimann gave the lesson, entitled “Variations of Quick Breads." .

During the social hour, games, led by Mrs. Harvey Smith, werg played and the hostesses served lovely refreshments. Guests present were Mrs. Melvin Mcßarnes, Mrs. Vernon Kaiser, Sandra Step- 1 ter and Lynn Stepler., It was announced that the July meeting will be a family picnic July'4 at Lehman park, Berne. A pot-luck dinner will be served at noon. CATHOLIC WOMEN TO VISIT SHRINE AT MARIA STEIN O. J About 30 women of the St. Mary’s Catholic parish will make a Marian Year pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Holy Relic at Maria Stein. O„ Tuesday. The visit will feature a day of recollection forthe women. t The trip is being sponsored by the St. Dominic Study club. The group will leave at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and travel by car to the 1 shrine. They will return in'-the evening. ' DEMONSTRATION CLUB MEETS TUESDAY Mrs. C. Fruchte was hostess | Tuesday evening for the Monroe Better Homes Demonstration club. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Martha Ebsex after which the group sang the song of the month, " I >-t Me Call You Sweetheart “ The -club creed was then recited in unison. Mrs. Lillian Steiner read the devotions, followed by prayer. Roll call was answered by "new Ideas for reunion There were 20 members and two guests present. The lesson on master mix and oatmeal mix was presented by the leaders, Mrs. Glen Stucky and Mrs. Doyle Hoffman. Mrs. Lessie Ray gave a lesson, entitled "Home Fires, from Electrical Hazards." The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. John Floyd. During the social hour Mrs. Fruchte and Mrs. Steiner served delicious refreshments. Attending her sister as i maid-of-honor is Miss Cofinie Walton. Rev. Walton will officiate, assisted by the Rev. B. A. Walton of Grace Congregational church in St. Johnsville. New York; an uncle of the bride. A half hour of music will precede the open ceremony. Following the wedding a reception has been planned at the Fremont Federation of Women's hom£. IMMANUEL WALTHER LEAGUE,MEETS The recent meeting of the I«i---manuel Walther League held at the Lutheran school opened with hymp singing followed by Bible study. The meeting was conducted by the newly elected officers. Cynthia Thieme and Leona Bohnke will’serve as ushers at the dedication of Camp Lutherhaven June 20. Several members spent an enjoyable weekend at the cajxtp . to ready the cabins. Committees were then selected for the ice cream social July 4 at the school. The meeting was closed with the Lord’s prayer. LEAGUE TO ATTEND , CAMP DEDICATION — Final arrangements were made for the members of the St. Peter Walther league to attend the ded icatlon of Camp Lutherhaven June . -’ll pt fhg league's recent meeting. Arnold Gerke and Alice Fuelling will represent the group and serve as usherettes for the dedication. The meeting opened with scripture reading and prayer followed by Bible study. The entertainment committee gave a report on the program that they have planned for the ice cream social August 1. It was also announced that the boys have formed a softball team again this summer, but the girls

Mrs. Frank McConnell had tprned to her home after being called 10 days ago by the sickness and death of her sister, Mrs. Homer Schultz of Akron. O. Mrs. Mervin Taylor, of West_ Lafayette, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard McConnell. of South Third street. ■ Dwight Sheets, of West Adams street, while driving through New Haven recently, stopped in at the grand opening of a food store there. He was - very surprised to Jearn after registering that he is the recipient of a brand new Chevrolet, the grand prize. Miss Eunice Ellen Hays of Hagerstown is—spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Rash of this-city. Miss Hays is a sister of Mrs. Rash, Mrs. Nellie Price nad Perry Sheets have returned from Fort Bragg, N. C.. where they visited with Pvt. Ronald Price. Mrs. Janelle Price remained at Fort Bragg where she will with her husband. Twelve automobile dealers in Jay county will pay their employes in silver dollars tomorrow. It will mean about 310,000 in the old fashioned coins. .
