The Hoosier state university through this year's graduating class will raise its total living alumni above 100,006. The commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m., daylight time, in Memorial Stadium will climax a three-day campus observance of the. 100th anniversary of the founding of the University's alumni association. Called to service as a private in 1941, Schurger was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1942, and rose to the rank of captain during the second World War. As a member of the military police Overseas, he worked closely with the civil police in London, England, oji criminal and traffic problems in the world’s largest city.. At present Schurger is a major in the judge advocate general’s corps of the arm} -reserve, and an active member of the reserve officers association. He is a former president of the Decatur chapter of that organization. Schurger has been active in many state organizations. In 1950 he served as president of the Indiana state prosecuting attorney’s association. He is now president of the Adams county bar association, and is grand knight of the Decatur Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wans, 8.P.0.
