The Hands Can Reveal Symptoms of a Disease
By HERMAN N. BUNDESEN, M.B. THE simple handshake between doctor and patient may at times be the key to the diagnosis of the patient’s illness. The hand can give a clue to many serious diseases. A person with a flabby, cold, wet hand may be suffering from a severe type of nervousness. A shaky hand may also be characteristic of thia disorder, or it may be due to some type of thyroid disease. Fingers with severe tobacco stains may also be a sign of nervousness, as are short ants chewed fingernails. Indicating Heart Disease Long standing cases of heart or lung disease may be suggested by a shortening and clubbing of the fingers. These diseases are also suggested by a bluish coloring of the fingers. CMnerally, the size of the hand is proportioned to the rest of the ' " body. It is recognised as one of the moet beautiful church buildings in the midwest. The religious dedicatory rites will be performed by the Most Rev. Archbishop John F. Noll, D.D., Bishop of Fort Wayne, in a program arranged by the Most Rev. Msgr. J. J. Seimets, pastor and guiding force of a congregation that now enjoys a brand-new, mangificent House of the Lord. The history of Decatur cannot be written without inclusion of the spiritual zeal of the early settlers who established the first churches and religious bodies within its borders. St. Mary’s parish had its beginning in 1837 and the church that will be dedicated , Monday is the third structure on the Fourth street site. We extend congratulations to Msgr. Seimetz and members of St. Mary’s parish on their accomplishment. — —■ —-i 20 Years Ago Today —4 May 28—Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Rentz of Peru purchase the Vaughn’s greenhouses and will move to Decatur.
