T • 7 I i To Mu Beloved Wife Lucitta,’ L It is done. All w finished. They have crucified Jesus! 1 I would not, could not believe this had not mine own eyes 1 witnessed this greatest of all crimes. Yesterday, when ! departed from the -judgment hall of the Procurator Pilate it was my belief that since Jesus was obviously innocent of any of the charges made against i the Nazarene the sentence would be one of only mild > confinement or exile. > Imagine, then, my dear Lucilla, my great shock and ! horror when I learned late today what had really trans- ! pired. 1 1 had been confined to my apartments at the villa with i a mild disorder and thus was ignorant of what was taking 8 place in the city. The day was well advanced when sud--8 denly it grew dark and a servant brought torches to my room to dispel the gloom. Suddenly, the earth shook as though disturbed by a I mighty hand. This was followed by a tremendous flash of lightning and a most fearful thunderclap. Shortly thereafter Cams the centurion burst through j the drapes that shielded my room from the atrium. “They have slain the Nazarene,” he cried. “The Man from Nazareth has been crucified!” When I looked my disbelief Cans urged: "Arise, sir —and accompany me. and 7 will show you that this is only too true.” I Swiftly I dressed and soon we were hastening across l the city to that place of execution which is called by the 1 natives Golgotha, that is, the Place of Skulls. 1 And there—between two criminals—hung the Nazarene from a cross beneath which several women in mourning knelt in their grief, closely watched by a detachment of soldiers cm guard post. I have sketched the scene for you. 1 took one look at Jesus’ face, white and still beneath a brutal crown of thorns forced into the brow. I knew - then—life had already taken wing. As I stood in the shadow of that dreadful cross a great sense of guilt came tipon me. A word from me might have swayed the Procurator from his action. Now—too late. It is with great grief, I close. Your faithful husband, 1 ARIUS. . 1 (Created by WILLIAM RITT. Disti ibwted by King Features Syndicate.)

Lt. Shoulders Is Guilty Os Perjury Greenlease Kidnap Figure Convicted . TTXNSAS CITT, Mo. UP —The perjury conviction of Louis Shoulders.former St. Louie policeman who broke the Greenlease kidnaping case, left authorities no closer today to a solution of what actually happened to more than $300,000 missing ransom money. Shoulders, a former lieutenant, was found guilty Thursday of lying about what he and patrolman Elmer Dolan did with suitcases containing the ransom when they arrested kidnap-killer Carl Austin Hall last Oct. 6. About half of the money has been missing ever since Oct. 7, when Hall’s suitcases were turned over to the FBI. A federal court jury took two ballots as it deliberated for 2 hours and IS minutes after the four-day trial. Dolan had previously been
