STATE PRESIDENT TO SPEAK HERE TONIGHT Mrs. Frances Tallen, state president of the Women’s Missionary society of the Church of God, Mill speak at the installation service of the local officers of the Church of God Missionary society this evening at seven-thirty o’clock. Mrs. Tallen has just returned • from a tour of the British West Indies, Grand Cabman, British Guiana, Trinidad, and other points of interest. While she ylsited various mission stations and will tell about the work being done by the missionaries on these islands. The public is Invited to attend the service. — - ' MR. & MRS. LOWEIL J- SMITH CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Lowell J. Smith of this city were surprised Sunday by their children and relatives. The occasion was their 25th wedding anniversary, which will be.observed today. A delicious potluck dinner was served at noon and those present gave the guests of honor a lovely silver tea service. Attending the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Merriman and family of Lima, 0.; Mr. and Mrs. Austin Merriman and daughter and Elisha Merriman, all of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Omer Merriman and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Brown and family, Mr., and Mrs. James Merriman, all of Decatur; Mrs. Warren Kneuss and daughter of Berne. After refreshments were served, Mrs. Leo Strahm conducted a riddle contest. fisher-siAian repeat WEDDING VOWS SATURDAY Miss Sharon Fisher, daughter of Mrs. Richard Baker, Decatur, route 3, became the bride of Donald Sbman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Suman, Decatur, Saturday afternoon in Greensburg. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Suman attended the couple. They are now residing with the bridegroom’s parents. MONMOUTH GRbUP MEETS MONDAY The Monmouth P.T.A. Mothers’ Study club met Monday evening at the Monmouth school. The meeting opened with the group reading the Mothers’ prayer. The secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting and conducted roll call after which Mrs. Robert Rice gave the devotions, using as her topic "Human Nature.” Mrs. Hugh Andrew®, English teacher, presented six of her pupils who conducted a discussion, entitled “Personality and Power of Expression.” Those taking part were Evelyn Getting, Dorothy Fat, Evelyn Beineke, Alice Fleming, Donna Schieferstein, and Violet Sheets. Kathryn Singlton presented an essay, “What America Means to Me” and Donna Schieferstein gave a ten minute talk on “Our Constitution.” Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Burl Fuhrman, Mrs. Herbert Braun, and Mrs. Earl G. Fuhrman. The Girls Missionary guild of the Union Chapel church will meet with Sara Frank Tuesday evening at seven-thirty o’clock. The Friendship circle of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church will meet Wednesday after the evening service at the home of Mrs. William Tutewiller. Mrs. Joyce Ellenberger will be hostess for the St. Joseph’s Study club Thursday evening at eightfifteen o’clock. The Methodist Evening circle will meet at eight o’clock Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Carl Gerber. Psi lota Xi sorority will hold a business meeting at eight o’clock

Congress Candidate Visits In Decatur Fred Greene, Fort Wayne lawyer and Democrat candidate for congress in the fourth district, was a Decatur visitor Tuesday. Green called on several prominent Democrats of northern Adams county during his visit here. He said that he planned to make a thorough canvass of the counties comprising the district in the next few weeks. The candidate will be opposed in the primary election by Oliver Eggers, Fort Wayne. Woman Fined For Running Red Light Phyllis Affolder, 35, Decatur, paid a fine of $1 and costs in justice of peace court Tuesday afternoon after pleading guilty to a charge of driving her automobile through a red light signal Monday; Total fine and costs amounted to $14.75.
