FHA Administration Cost To Be Reduced J ■ Most Os Saving At State Office Level A saving ot approximately $60,0(A) per year in the cost of administering the farmers home administration program in Indiana will result from the agency’s reorganization scheduled to take place March 29. Most of the savings will be at the state office level but the entire program is being simplified and streamlined. Indiana FHA personnel will be reduced 20 percent while service to farmers will be speeded up by the elimination, simplifying or improvement of 70 farms, reports, files, procedures and wqrk routines. The same types of loins and services will be performed, however. The volume of loans and services this year has been greater than last year, according to Ralph C. Phillippe, state director at Indianapolis. As of March 5, the FHA in Indiana had loaned $2,805,390 since June 30, 1953, compared with $2,650,000 a year earlier for the same period. Over 55 percent of these funds have been used to assist young veteran families. Approximately 2,700 farm families are taking part in the program now compared with 2,550 last year. Loan funds allotted to Indiana for this fiscal year have already been obligated. j Under tne reorganization more loan authority is being placed in the hands of local and state officials and the number of loan closing papers to be reviewed by the department's solicitor is reduced. Duplication of files on real estate loans and report-forms on borrowers’ progress are being eliminated. Uni for m loan servicing regulat ions are being adopted. No change in the personel or territory served by the Decatur office is planned. The office serves Adams, Allen, Jay and Wells counties.
