Indianapolis Tourney Lacks Others' Power INDIANAPOLIS UP — The Indianapolis district, which usually comes through with a “revolting development,? gets its last chance Saturday when two established clubs and two “people’s choices’’ bid for a “fieldhouse four” berth in Indianas high school basketball tourney. The local three-game session may lack the power of the three other semi-final districts, but it certainly has all the aspects of a colorful show. For in the opener, first-time regional champion Montezuma tangles with Milan, last year’s tourney sensation, and Columbus takes on Indianapolis Crispus Attacks, the favorite. .Montezuma’s Aztecs, with a 23-5 record, shouldn’t be awed by the spacious Butler fieldhouse. the Idea. And with nothing to lose, the “gymless wonders”, who ousted unbeaten Fillmore last Saturday, conld make It tough. Milan’s 23-<2 record is the best of this foursome,'and the Indians’ feat here last year still is fresh la memory. They took out Shelbyville in the semi-final title clash after Shelby’s Bears derailed At tucks for one of the best one-two upset punches of the entire tourney. Milan coach Marvin Wood has a small but talented outfit which includes plucky Bobby Plump, Bob Engel, Ronnie Truitt, and Ken Wendelman. Attucks, at 23-4, is seeking its second finals spot. The Flying Tigers also made it three years ago, losing to 'Evansville Reitz in the afternoon, 66-59. Coach Ray Crowe’s club has fine shooters and ballhandlers in Sheddrick Mitchell, Harold Crenshaw, and Oscar Robertson, and more balance than in previous years. • Columbus, after two trying tourney weeks, reached the “SWeet 16” for the 10th time. The Bulldogs, another well-balanced quintet, went to the four-team finals only onec—in 1938—when they lost to Fort Wayne South in the afternoon round. With two repeaters and two new and ambitious teams, this threegame session could easily contain the spark that sets off the fireworks and gives one of the underdogs an extended lease on life.
