V. F. W. LADIES AUXILIARY CONDUCTS BUSINESS MEET The V. F. W. ladies auxiliary of Post 6236 held a regular business meeting at the post home Monday . After the business was discussed, initiation was conducted. Past ■ president, Inez Weber, asked for articles of linens and clothing, furniture, x)r anything else that could be used in the home for Mrs. Maude Gilbert, whose home and furnishings were destroyed in a fire. Anyone wishing to donate articles is asked to call Mrs. Clarence Weber. The next meeting will be a social affair. March 1 at the post home at eight o'clock. MRS. EARL ADAMS » ENTERTAINS CLUB The Ladies Shakespeare club was entertained at the home of Mrs/'Earl Adams Wednesday afternoon. t~ Twenty members present repeated the collect and discussed current events. The program for the next year was outlined by Mrs. Milo Black. “Empire Builders of Oregon” was the subject for the afternoon. Mrs. Seth Beavers, the leader, narrated the hardships, sacrifices, ''and triumphs of the pioneers who settled the Oregon country. Mrs. Fred Smith will be hostess for the March 3 meeting. GOSPEL SUNBEAMS ENJOY RECENT VALENTINE PARTY The Gospel Sunbeams met in the basement of the Baptist church Saturday for a Valentine party. Those present were Karen Call, Jerry Lee. Barbara Lee, Thresa Bassert. Mary Bassett, Helen Elliott, Geraldine Hitchcock, Annabelle McAllister, Dianne McAllister, and the teachers, Mrs. Stanley and Mrs. Johnson.

After the business session, games were played. A delicious lunch was then served by the hoslesses, Geraldine Hitchcock, Helen Klliott, and the teachers. During tfie lunch, Annabelle McAllister passed out Valentine cards. TRINITY W. S. W. S. CONDUCTS EVENING The W. S. W. S. of the Trinity church conducted a meeting Tuesday evening at the church with Mrs. Anna Myers as the program leader. She spoke on the church in Europe. Some very interesting facts about several great hymns were given at this time. Later the group sang two of the hymns, accompanied by Mrs. Herald Hitchcock. Mrs. R. O. Wynn then offered .prayer, and the group Sang "Come Thou Almighty King.” Chapter 7 of the book, “Wher’er the Sun," was presented by Mrs. Russell Deßolt, who stressed the conditions of the Christians. In dosing the group' sang ‘‘Fairest lx>rd Jesus.” A joint meeting with the Ladies aid was conducted, and Mrs. Charles Feasel, Jr., was welcomed as a new member. Lovely refreshments were served to the 23 members and eight guests present by the committee in charge, Mrs. John Kelley, Mrs. D. C. Wynn, and Mrs. Jesse William. LOYAL DAUGHTERS CLASS MEETING The Loyal Daughters class of Bethany E. U. B. church met at the home of Mrs. Adolph Kolter Tuesday evening, with Mrs. Genevieve Owens as assisting hostess. Mrs. James Staley, class president, presided over the business meeting. Mrs. Wm. Hamma gave the closing prayer. After the business meeting, con-

ROSARY SOCIETY MEETS MONDAY Over 145 women attended the pre-lenten party of the Rosary society of St. Mary's church Monday evening at the Knights of Columbus hall. The meeting opened with prayer followed by the business session conducted by the president, Mrs. Loretta Metzler. The Very Rev. Msgr. Joseph J. Seimetz paid a visit to the meeting and made ,a few announcements pertinent to the society and distributed new booklets on the rosary. While refreshments were served by the committee, the members were entertained by a group of girls from Decatur Catholic high school who sang “Heart of My Heart,” “Indian Love Call” and the ever popular “I-Said My Pajamas.” Miss Rita Rumschlag, the accompanist, also played a solo number, “Chopin's Polonaise.” The chorus is directed by Sr. M. Paul, C. S. A. Card games were then played and prizes awarded to the win-

EARL SPRUNGER HONORED WITH SHOWER Mrs. Earl Sprunger, the former Marinel Striker, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Thursday by Miss Kay Ann Witte. Upon her arrival, the guest of honor received a lovely corsage of white carnations. Games were played and prizes awarded to Miss Shirley Rupert, Mrs. James Striker, Mrs. Earl Sprunger, and Mrs. Burl Sprunger, who in turn gave them to the honored ’ Miss Witte, assisted by her . mother, then served refreshments to the following: the Misses Florine Hlrschy, Elaine Stultz, Ruth I Mae Weber, Janet Shady, Goldie Hallapeter, Mary Jane Shaw, Patsy Urick; Ardola Parrish, Connie
