Fined For Driving Without "License Tom J. Anton, Decatur, arrested several days ago on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license, pleaded guilty to the charge Saturday morning in justice of peace court. Anton was fined $1 and costs amounting to $14.75 and was admonished to cease driving' until he procured a license. ________ * Three Minor Mishaps Reported By Police The city suffered most in three minor automobile mishaps over the wegk-end and two lamp posts were knocked down. An automobile driven by Harve Beery, 74, Pleasant Mills, collided with a lamp post at the corner of Rugg street and;’ Mercer avenue early Sunday morning. An affidavit charging Beery with failure' to report the mishap .was- «u file—in— justice, -of - peace, court today. An auto driven by Elmer Wendell, 27, Decatur, struck a jamp post in the 100 block on Monroe street .Sunday morning at 8:15 o’clock and damage was estimated at sls. The third mishap occurred Sunday morning when a car driven by Gerald Parker, 27, Fort Wayne, skidded, just east of the Monroe street bridge and struck a, sign. Damage to the automobile was estimated at $125. No personal' Injuries were reported in any of the mishaps. / Two Filling Station Breakins At Berne Two filling station break-ins at Berne during the night Sunday or early this morning were reported to sheriff Bob Shraluka, The robbery at the Berne Oil Co,, which was discovered by Don L&utzenheiser. employe, when he opened up for business thta.-morning netted the burglars $25 in cash and considerable merchandise. Six Traffic Deaths Reported In Stale Three Os Victims Students At Purdue By UNITED PRESS Indiana recorded only six fatalities in four traffic accidents during the weekend. Three of the victims were Chinese students at Purdue University, killed in one a reck. State police said two other Chinese students were injured badly in the car-truck crash on U. S. 52 northwest of Lebanon Saturday night. The dead were identified as Martin Ta Chang Pu, 23. Taipeh, Formosa; David C. Kao, 19, Taipeh, and Lawrence C. Tseng, IJong Kong. In critical condition at St. Vincent's hospital in Indianapolis was Yum Chuen Fu, 23, Hong Kong. Richard Pai, Honk Kong, *was listed as serious. Authorities said the youths were traveling to Indianapolis at high speed when their car rammed the rear of a steel-laden flat-bed truck. Police said the impact sheared the roof off the car. Truck driver Phillip Miller, 34, Indianapolis, was not hurt. Authorities said they believed Fu was driving the car. Charles H. Pelkey. 61. Chicago Heights, 111., was injured fatally Sunday night when his car skidded on ice-covered Ind. 8 northwest of Knox an detruck a tree. Mrs. Richard Satterlee of near South Bend was killed when her car skidded on a slippery patch of highway near Mishawaka and overturned four times. Authorities said she*was driving to work at a Mishawaka factory when the accident occurred. James L. Scott. 31, Valparaiso bartender, was kjlled Sunday when he lost control of his car.
