We were Intrigued some time back by a story out of Australia concerning a pet butcher, bird', Butch by name, who attempted to adopt a human baby in the household. To the consternation of the real mother, the magpie-sized Butch would perch on the baby's crib and try —with motherly patience —to cram food down the youngster’s throat. The big hitch is that the “food” was made up of tidbits dear to a butcher bird’s heart; fat white grubs, centipedes, grasshoppers and toothsome scorpions. Over a period of* time the process reversed with the baby gradually getting to the point of feeding the frustrated bird. Oh well, speaking of weird adoptions, legends tell of wolves and coyotes raising human children as their own. -Cats, however, such as tigers and lions, areh’UJikely prospects for the reason that their sandpaper-rough tongues would virtually skin a f aby during the washing process, Tigers and Lions may skin you. but you’ll surely never get skinned when you come to DECATUR GIFT CENTER.
