Commodores Snap Long Losing Streak, Deteat JeHerson Last Night
The Deeatur Commodores, frustrated through eight harrowing defeats, finally brought an end Vt© their losing streak Tuesday night, defeating the Jefferson Warriors, 60-52, at the Decatur gym. The Commodores, after winning their season opener from Pleasant Mills, had dropped eight in a row, several by narrow margins, before finally coming through last night with a welcome Christmas gift to Coach Dave Terveer and the Commodore fans. ■ The game was clos£ all the way until the Commodores managed to pull "away in the final few minutes of play. - Both quintets were handicapped by the absence of one regular each, I' Dick Butcher of the Warirors. out Mth leg infection, and Walt jj, Mowery of the Commodores, sidelined by illness. Geneva Edges Out Berne By 65-63 Score The Geneva ' Cardinals racked up their ninth victory of the season Tuesday night, edging the Berne Bears, 66-63, after a terrific battle on the Berne floor. The Cardinals have lost only one game to date. The struggle between these old rivals was bitter all the way. Geneva led at the first period, 14*13, but Berne held a 30-28 advantage at the half. The Cardinals were on top at the third period, 46-42. Three players led the scoring for each team, For Geneva, Bob Schisler tallied 20, Larry Hanni and Jerry Tester 18 each. For Berne, Tom Ehrsam scored 20, John Kirchhofer IS and Stn Miller 11.
