Unseen, the father gripped the hand His wife held out to stay her tears. “The very finest Christmastide, u He boomed, “in fifty million •• • ' Outside the belts began to ring And auto horns commenced to blow. Doore opened wide and neighbors dashed Hatless, shouting through the snow. “The news! The news! You’ve surely heard! The chain disintegration stopped. The world will not end after aU. A Christmas gift that can’t be topped ... “The scientists are baffled. They Say Tasman sea is calm again. It truly is God’s vow renewed \ Os peace on earth, goodwill toward men.” • • • But Joyce and Jerry were dismayed. “Won’t we go up to heaven now!" “Heaven! Children, it is here. It nestles on each lighted bough Os every fragrant Christmas tree. It’s wrapped in every gift we give. It chimes in every carol sung, And shines through each good hour we live* •I ' ; The dad and mother wept with joy. Clasping close their girl and boy.
