Crispus Attacks Is Winner Over Tech LNDEANAiPOLIS UP — Gamblers or “cranks” who threatened five high school basketball players made no move against the tour who played in a crucial iatra-city contest Wednesday night. Apparently unworried, the four boys made 84 points as Criapus Attacks spoiled Indianapolis Tech's perfect record, 48-38, before a crowd of 9,000. The fifth player, Indianapolis Tech star Dave Huff, was benched at home by his parents. Police escorted the four boys who played to and from their homes, and uniformed police and plainclotbesmen “were all over the place” at Butler fieldhouse to protect the players who were warned of violence if they “sat foot on the floor.” Don Sexson of Tech scored seven points, and Bill Mason, Oscar Robertson and Win Word O’Neal got 27 between them for the winners as the game went off without incident Hifff wanted to play, but his parents refused permission. The threats began a week ago< when Huff was accosted on the street by three men who bran dished knives arid threatened to “cut him up” if he played. Later iMason, Robertson, O’Neal and Sexson and their coaches, Ray Crowe and Charley Maas received threats by telephone and mail. Police believed these later threats were the work of “cranks ” But school officials left final word on whether the threatened boys would play up to their parents.
