Commodores Defeated > By Central Catholic Tuesday Night, 69 -47
-The (Decatur Commodores went down to their seventh consecuti 7 e defeat Tuesday night when they were outclassed (by Fort *Wayne Central Catholic, J 59-47, at the Fort Wayne team’s gym. > , The Commodores, after trailing by €-0 early in the game, came back to cut the margin to 8-6 on a field goal by Johnny York, and a'©air of free throws by Joe Wilder; ibut the Irish then ran their lead to. 16-8 by the end of the first quarter. The Commodores scored only eight points again in the second period, while C. C. poured in 19 to take a commanding lead at 3546 at the main intermission. Central Catholic continued to roll in the third quarter, and entered the final eight minutes of play I with a big 53-25 advantage. The Commodores outscored the Irish in the final period, 22-16, to slice the finalma rgin to 69-47. Jim iHall, big Irish center, paced his teammates with 19 points, while i Gary Janeway tallied I'2 and Tom Eckrich Hl. (For the Walt Mowery tallied 13 points and Johnny York 11. . The winners hit 26 of 83 shots from the field and 17 of 29 from the foul line. Decatur Catholic made 14 of 52 field attempts and converted 25 of 40 attempts from the charity stripe. Adams Central Whips Dodgers By 66-37 Score The Adams Central Greyhounds boosted their season mark to a 4-3 mark Tuesday night by walloping the Rockcreek Dodgers, 66-37, at the Adams Central gym. The Greyhounds piled up a 15point bulge, 30-15, at the half, and stayed well out in front the rest bf the way. ! Rod Beer led ,'the Adams Central scoring with 22 points, while Junior Nussbaum and Albert Egly were also in double figures. Briner’s nine points were high for Rockcreek. ' \ . Spartans Down Gray Quintet Tuesday Night The Pleasant Mills Spartans pulled above the .500 mark Tuesday night by whipping Gray of Jay county, 68-45, at the Pleasant Mills gyim. It was the , Spartans’ fifth victory in nine games. Pleasant Mills led at all stopping points, 16-9, 30-20 and 49-31. All of the 11 Spartans used contributed points, with Byer leading with 15, followed by Lee Wolfe - with 12. Roiger Frey, Injured in the Spartans’ opening game, returned to the lineup and scored seven times. Stoeber leu Gray with T 6 markers. Geneva Whips Lancaster By 69-55 Score Starting slowly and trailing at the first quarter, the Geneva Cardinals came back to mark u> a decisive 69-55 victory over the Lancaster Central Bobcats Tuesday night at the Geneva gym. The triumph was the Cardinals’ seventh of the season, with only one-defeat on their record. The Wells—county team held a 19-15 lead at the first period, but Geneva raced to a 33-23 advantage at the half and a 50-35 bulge at the third quarter. Jerry Tester poured in 26 points and Larry Hanoi 23 to lead the Cardinals, while Larry’s cousin topped Lancaster with 18, trailed closely by Beefier with 17. The Cardinals will host the Hartford Gorillas at Geneva Friday night.
