MRS. VERNA SPRAGUE ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. Verna Sprague entertained the Rose Garden club with their annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange. \ The 22 members, one guest, and three | children were seated at small, gaily decorated fables. Mrs. Paul Daniels presided over the business session. Mrs. Velma Roop presented the lesson, entitled ‘'Christmas Customs Handed Down Through the Years:” She also told the history of the carols, “Silent Ntght” and f‘O. Little Town of Bethlehem.” Velma Durkin reported on Christmas flowers. Assisting hostesses were Lucy Daniels. Velma Durkin, Erma Miland. and Edith Kortenber. " I. THREE b-INK CLUB ENJOYS DINNER Thirty members of the Three Link club of Rebekah lodge enjoyed a Christmas dinntr recently. The tables were attractively decorated in keeping with the holiday season. After the turkey dinner 'was served, an exchange of gifts was held. Mrs. Laura Stanley received the door prize. The committee in charge consisted of the Mesdames Fred Handier, who?~was the chairman, Wilfred Plasterer, George Kreigh, Clara Drum, and Sanity Yoder. COMBINED PARTY IS HELD MONDAY EVENING Decatur F. H- A- and the girls of Adams Central enjoyed a combined party at the Decatur high L school Monday evening, The evening began with the playing of folk games. The girls or Adams Central then presented the following program: piano solo. Sonja Yoder; duet, Sue Roop and Sonja Schug; (accordion duet, Shirley Hershey and Kay Ann

Following the program, the entire group played bingo for (.lie remainder of the evening. Prizes were awarded to Patsy Urick, Margie Becker, Marilyn Arnold, Costa Hike, Marine! Striker, Carol Egly, Florine Hershey, Diane Liechty, Nana Aurand, Barbara Fiechter, and Sonja Yoder. The door prize was w’on by Diane Liechty. Delicious refreshments were then served to the group. ‘ '' • — ' ' CHRISTMAS PARTY HELD AT LEGION HOME The halls ana rooms of the American Legion home permeated with the voices and laughter of 57 people of the junior members of the American Legion auxiliary, the tiny tots and their x mothers Monday evening when they assembled for their annual Christmas party. Tiny Tots are those ranging in age from birth to school age and who are daughters of auxiliary members. The hall was artistically decorated. A large tree bearing the usual Christmas trimmings was erected; tabled were arranged in X fashion; large candelabfas were used as centerpieces; and miniature Christmas trees\ along with appropriate seasonal favors, graced the long, tables. At the guest table were seated Mrs; Amanda Dierkes. president of the Legion auxiliary Unit 43; Mrs. T. C. Smith, district' president; and the mothers of the Tiny Tots. Mrs. Dallas Brown and Mrs. Donald Jefferies were in charge of the decorations, and Mrs. Ed Bauer, chairman of the junior department, was in charge of the meeting. After the dinner an exchange of gifts were held with Kay Borman and Catherine Goelz in charge. Christmas carols were suhg by the group and an impersonation of a shepherd boy caroling was given by Mary Miller, accompanied? by Ann Ehinger at the piano. The' dinner was prepared by a few’ df the grandmothers of the Tiny Tots. They included the Mesdames Max .Schafer, Charles C. Lose, Tillman Gehrig, and Dallas Brown.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT OF WOMAN’S CLUB MEETS The music department of the Decatur Woman’s club enjoyed a Christmas party .Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Walter Krick. Lovely decorations were used in the entertaining rooms and a festive Holiday atmosphere prevailed. The members enjoyed an exchange of gifts, after which Mrs. Clyde Butler, president, conducted a short business session. Miss Helen Haubold then held a rehearsal fdr the department’s annual Christmas program, which will be held at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church Monday, Decembre 14. , Mrs. Krick was assisted by Mrs. J L. Kocher, Jr., Mrs. Clarence E. Bell, Mrs. Dan Tyndall, and Miss Alice Roth, MRS. Miss Glennys Roop presided at the short business meeting. The Penny Art Fund was collected and non-lint towels, to be sold by the members, were distributed. Mrs. A. R. After dinner gifts were exchanged and then Violet Walchle, Accompanied, by Ella S'herry, sang several selections. The two girls then led the group in the singing of Christmas carols. Thursday evening a formal initiation will be conducted at eight o’clock. Officers are to be present at seven-thirty o’clock. HOME DEMONSTRATION CHORUS CONVENES t The Home Demonstration chorus conducted a Christmas party ' Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Noa'h Habegger, Berne. Mrs. Edward ( ook, program chairman, reviewed the advancemen’ of the airplane in the lasit fifty years after which Mrs. Leo Kirsch spoke on the early automobiles.
