Jackets Open Net Campaign Friday Night ! The Decatur Yellow Jackets will open their 1953-54 basketball season- Friday night, playing host to the Geneva Cardinals at the De- | catur gym. Coach Bob Worthman faces a | tough rebuilding job with this year’s edition "of the Jackets, with only two lettermen returning from | last season’s squad. Lettermen returning are Roger Pollock, a rgeiilar last season, and Dave Halterman, who saw \liinited action in most of last year’s games. | . Lost from last year’s Northeast1 ern Indiana conference championship squad were Gene Morrison, one of the top scorers in this section of the state, Ferris Kohne, Kent Koons. Gene Vetter, Dick Duff, Bill Ditto and Bob Brokaw. The Jackets have a tough fop to meet in their opener in the vet-eran-studded Geneva Cardinals. SPORTS BULLETIN GAME CHANGED Announcement was made today that the Qecatur-Bluff-ton game at the, Decatur gym will be played Wednesday night, Nov. 25, instead of Nov. 24, as originally scheduled. • The change in date was announced today by Bob Worthman, Decatur high school athletic director. The game thus will fall on Thanksgiving eve. Season ticket holders are reminded to note the change from the date printed on season tickets. Berne Defeats Concordia By 66-62 Score The Berne Bears, displaying marked superiority at the free throw line, defeated the Fort Wayne Concordia Cadets, 66-62, at the Berne gym Tuesday night. The game was closely contested all the way. Concordia led at the first quarter. 20-19 and at the half, 36-35, with the Bears knotting the score at 49-49 at the third period. John Kirchhofer led the Berne scoring with 22 points on three field goals and 16 of 25 attempts from the foul line, as the Beats 'converted 32 foul shots. Don Dellinger topped Concordia with 23 points. The Bears will play the Panthers at Portland Friday.
