ROSE GARDEN CLUB MEETS RECENTLY The Rose Garden club met at the home of ‘Mrs. George Sprague svth Mrs. Paul Daniels presiding. The roll call was "answered; with each telling "The 'Most Unique Vegetable or Flower Grown in .By Garden This Summer." i i Mrs, Harry Hebble gave, gin informative speech, entitled "Thanksgiving (Arrangement for Centerpieces”, and Mrs. Walters reported on the Roadside council ineeting which was held recently at Wabash. ‘ Aj Thanksgiving contest was conducted by Mrs. Alva Lawson with prizes being awarded to Mrs.- Wilbur Stanley and (Mrs. Frank Crist. Lovely refreshments were then served by Mrs. Sprague and Mrs. Daniels. FORMAL INITIATION CONDUCTED BY SORORITY The Delta Theta-Tau sorority staged their formal initiation Ceremony and dinner Tuesday evening at the Elk’s home. . MRS. GEORGE BAIR ENTERTAINS TUESDAY Xi Alpha Xi Exemplar chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met with Mrs George Bair Tuesday evening. The meeting was opened with all the members Repeating the Exmplaritual. During the business session the ;pFesident, Mrs. Robert Lane, read a report on the Indiana state convention which was held recently at the Sheraton hotel in Chicago. Mrs. Nilah Niel was program leader for the evening and gave an interesting talk, entitled “Uking Your Leisure", with the entire group joining in for discussion. The closng ritual was then repeated, and the meeting was turned over, to the hostess for the social hour. MRS. C. E. PETERSON HOSTESS FOR CLUB Mrs. C. E. Erwin, reviewed the book “Pattern for Liberty", by Gerald W. Johnson. It was the story of old Philadelphia. A social hour followed. The next meeting will be held Wednesday afternoon at two-thiriy o'clock with Miss Elizabeth Peterson as the hostess. The Jolly Housewives Home Economics club of St. Mary’s township will meet Tuesday evening at seven-thirty o’clock at the Bobo, school. All members are to note the change of date. Roll call was answered with each member repeating their fayorite nursery rhyme. President LaVonne Hobbs was in charge of the business meeting which included reports by various committees and a turkey raffle. Mrs. Paul Hakes was theft welcomed into the sorority as a new member. During the cultural \ program, the topics "Poetry" and "Vers* Making” were discussed by Miss Mary 'Meyer and Mrs. Norma O'* Shaughnessy. Later a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess, Mrs. Gerald Ross. The next meeting, November 25, will be a Thanksgiving party at the 'Elks home with the Ritual of Jewels and’ pledge ceremony being conducted. ? TRINITY W. B.W. S. ' HELD REGULAR MEETING ' ; The Trinity W. S. W. S. Conducted a regular meeting r.t the church Tuesday evening. (Mrs. E. A. Crider was the leader and used as her theme “Song of Thanksgiving”. The tall to worship was also given by the leader. After a prelude, ths group sang “There is Sunshine in My Soul”. A report on the book “Where’s the Sun’ was given by Mrs. SephuS Jackson, and Mrs. H E. Sautbine gave several topics on the women in the Bible. (Mrs. Harry Browii then informed the group about th-* educational aspects of Union Christian college. Later, Mrs. John Chambers reported on the medical work in the Philippines, and Mrs. Herald Hitchcock spoke on the United Church of Christ. County Rural Youth Banquet November 22 Plans are underway for the annual Adams county rural youth banquet Sunday evening, November 22 at the Zion Lutheran pariah hall in Decatur. Th* banquet is scheduled to start st 6:30 p.m. Bob -Sprunger, a rural youther who spent this past summer as an international farm youth exchange student, will be the main speaker. He will show slides and tell of his experiences in prance, Tunisia, and Algeria. Also included in the evening's program are special , entertainment, group singing, and the installation of the 1954 officers. Tickets may be obtained from the rural youth members or the county extension office. Reservations should be in to the extension office by Thursday, November 19. Anyone interested in the activities of the Rural youth club is invited to attend. j At the Adama county memorial hospital: ' Mr. and Mrs. Howard Baumgartner, Berne, became the parents of a baby girl, at 6:45 a.m. Thursday. She weighed 6 pounds and 8 ounces. At 3:47 a.m. Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rathgeb, Hoagland, became the parents of an 8 pound, 8 ounce baby daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyer, Decatur, are the parents of a baby girl who was born Wednesday at the Fort Wayne Lutheran hospital. She weighed 8 pounds.
