JESSIE DIEHL \ HOSTESS FOR CHURCH GROUP The Missionary association, of the Nuttman avenue U. B. church met with Mrs. Jessie Diehl. Mrs. Clare Dague was program leader, and the lesson centered oh thank offering with the topic entitled “The Bread of Life.” Following tne call to worship and the prayer, the group gave the scriptures. The hymn “Break Thou the Bread of Life” was then sung. Mrs. Raver gave the study book chapter from "Africa on Safari.”

During the business session plans for the coming thank offering service were discussed. The group was dismissed by Mrs. Ben Harktess. Delicious refreshmpnts were served by the hostess to eleven members and three 5 guests. \ ANNUAL SCHAFER PARTY FRIDAY EVENING Employes of the Schafer retail store with their wives and husbands enjoyed their annual dinner party Friday evening at the hejne of Mr. and Mrs. Dorphus Drum. This year the party was in the form of a fish fry. After the dinner, a social hour was enjoyed. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. James Gattschall. Mr. and Mrs. LaDoyt Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Spiegel, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Gentie, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Crownover and son, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Rupert; Mrs. Florence Des Jean, Miss Isa,belle Kintz, Miss Lois Metzger, and the host apd hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Drum.. ’ W. M. A. of Mt. Victory United Brethren-church met at the home of Marie Lambert with twelve members and six children present. The next meeting will be held all day at the home of Mrs. Bernice Gray/ Clothes for the mission will be made at this time. 1. __ The Decatur Church Mothers Study club will entertain the Berne Mothers club Tuesday evening at eight o’clock at the Decatur Methodist church. Mrs. Doyle Collier will be in charge of the program. The mtfsic department of the Decatur Woman's club: will rehearse Monday evening at eight o’clock at the home of Miss Helen Haubold. — The St. Dominic’s Bible study club wi|l meet with Mrs. Noble Drum Monday evening at seventhirty o’clock. Members are to note the change of date. \ The Delta Theta Tau degree team will convene Monday evening at the Elks home at seventhirty o’clock. Xi Alpha lota chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority will conduct a meeting at the home of Mrs. Max Moser Wednesday evening at eight o’clock. The Monroe Better Home club will meet Monday evening at seven-thirty o’clock at the home of Mrs. Clifford Essex, Anna Ki Williams, program leader, will speak on “Feet and Shoes.” All members are asked to note the change of date. At eight o’clock Tuesday the Eagles auxiliary will meet at the hall. An Armistice day program will follow. , The Little Flower Study club will conduct a meeting at the home of Mrs. Florence Des Jean Thursday evening at seven thirty o’clock. \ • The Naomi circle of the Presbyterian church* will hold a meeting at the of Mrs. Robert Macklin Wednesday evening at eight o’clock. , At eight o’clock Wednesday evening the Ruth circle of the Presbyterian church will meet with Mrs. James Burk as hostess. Fall Stewardship Effort By Chprch Annual Effort By Lutheran Church “What is your business?” This will be the pulpit theme Sunday at Zion Lutheran, church, West Monroe street, as the congregation opens its annual fall stewardship effort. The pastor of the church, the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, will conduct worship Services at 8 and I$:3U o’clock. The annual effort, stressing Christian stewardship of time, talents, and treasure, is under the supervision of the church’s stewardship committee, composed of Louis Jacobs, chairman, Harold Thieme, Kenneth Schnepf, Edward Wolfe, Earl Caston, and the pastor. The effort will, culminate in an every-member visitation, Sunday, November 22, when the members of the congregation will encourage each other in the Lord’s work in the home, church, and civic life, through personal visitation. The committee has chosen a group of 60 men to serve as canvassers who will receive inspiration and 'instruction on the mechanics of the canvass at a dinner meeting, Tuesday, November 17, at 6:15 p.m., in the parish hall. The church choir will appear Sunday at the 10:30 service, singing, “Great is the Lord?’ by Haydn. David Embler directs. The public is invited to worship at the Lutheran church at the hour most convenient, 8 or 10:30 a.m. The services are identical. Man Arrested Here For Child Neglect Clarence Zolman, 25, o>f Middle point. 0., was turned over to the Van Wert, 0., county sheriff here Friday on a warrant alleging child neglect, police reported.
