One Man Killed In Oil Tanker Blast Explosion Sweeps Tanker At Chicago CHICAGO, (UP)—An explosion swept the loaded 253-foot oil tanker Blue Comet today as she lay at anchor in Lake Michigan near a South Chicago breakwater, and coast guardsmen said one seaman was killed. . . \ Two seamen were taken to a hospital and eight others were treated for shock at a coast guard station. Fort Wdyne Painter Is Killed In Fall FORT WAYNE UP — Thurman 0. Nuckles, 30, Fort Wayne, was killed and another painter seriously injured Wednesday when they plunged 40 feet from a scaffold at an Army Engineer depot. They fell to the concrete floor of the Casad Ordnance Depot at nearby New Haven when a steel brace supporting the scaffold broke. Nuckles died .enroute to a hospital, where Henry Morningbar, 52, Fort Wayne, was confined with a fractured wrist, elbow and ankle.
