Three Men Killed In Bomber Crash t Three-Man Crew Is Burned To Crisp LAKEVIEW, CaIU. UP —The three-man crew of an air force 845 jet bomber was "bitrned to a v crisp” whenlhe plane crashed and, burned her© on a routine test flight The light Tornado bomber crashed two miles northeast of here in a field Thursday and burned with such fury that fire crews were unable to recover the occppauts bodies fpr an hour and a half. The Norton air force base public Information office said the plane, manned by a major and two first lieutenants, crashed 26 miles south of the base about 45 minutes after takeoff. Diesel Engine Test Is Held Thursday L. C. Pettibone, light and power superintendent, said today the diesel engine was started and run for the fir«t time Thursday on fuel oil. Report Slate School Conditions Improved U Menu Improvements At Muscatatuck INDIANAPOLIS UP — Food costs at Muacatatuck state school, where state officials said malnutrition occurred before Alfred Sasser Jr. became superintendent last July, have been boosted from about 20 cents per patient per day to about 55 cents. Bernard Doinick, assistant to Dr. Margaret Morgan, state mental health commissioner, said today improvement of menus., was only one step to elevate at the institution. He said numerous patients were found suffering from “severe malnutrition” before the new administration took charge last summer. Since then, Doinick said, the school’s staff also has been increased from 362 to 422, with special emphasis on tnalned personnel, and three nurses now are on the medical staff where formerly only one had charge of patients. Carl T. Habegger Appointed Agent - Carl T. "Hobby” Habegger, business and civic leader of Berne, will represent the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee in the Berne area, it was announced today. He will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors of The Winner House, Berne’s oldest manufacturing concern. A former newspaperman, Habegger was editor and manager of the Berne Witness from 1914 to 1918. Funeral Held Today For Mrs. Sorab Deam Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Ossian Presbyterian church for Mrs. Sarah L. Deam, 77, who died Tuesday at her home in that town. Surviving Mrs. Deam. who was well known in Decatur, are a son, Charles of near Ossian; , two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hoover of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Roland Hsache of Yodqr, and two grandchildren. Check Forger Tells Os Operating Here No Check Forgeries Are Reported Here A 30-year-old Brookville man admitted to police of Spencer that Decatur waa one of the cities in which he Cleceed merchants by writing forged checks. Clyde Copes told police he hit at least two dozen cities in the last three months, and police said they believed he filched merchants of about >12,000 before, he was spotted by an alert Spencer banker. Police chief James Borders said this morning that there have been no reports of forged checks by Decatur merchants, but he admitted the possibility that 'Copes might have hit Decatur and the victims haven’t reported the fact. In the last three months, reports Merle Affolder, deputy sheriff, a merchant in the county was victimized by a forged check with a non-existant name, but he said he doubts whether Copes is the man that did it. Copes sat at a desk and circled all the towns he said he hit, since escaping from an Ohio prison. Circled were Franklin, where he said he started his crime trip, Kendallville, Warsaw, Columbia City, Rochester, Rensselaer, Decatur, Bluffton, Huntington, Wabash, Peru, Portland. Hartford City, Attica, Frankfort, Tipton, Elwood, Alexandria, Winchester, Anderson, Noblesville, Lebanon, Crawfordsville, Grdenfield. Richmond, Indianapolis, Morristown. Funeral services for Noah Stauffer, who was killed Thursday morning while working at the Liecbty cane mill near Berne, will be held at, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Evangelical Mennonite church west of Berne. The 'Rev. E. .G. Steiner will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be removed from the\Yager home to the residence, three and one-half miles west of BerAe, where friends may call after 7 o’clock this evening.

Woman Is Injured When Hit By Auto A 58-year-old Adam* county woman is at the Adams county memorial hospital with numerous injuries suffered when struck by a car as she alighted from a southbound bus in the town of Monmouth last night at about 7 o'clock, police reported.
