expect Revision On Auto Insurance Higher Rates For Younger Autoists INDIANAPOLIS, tip -Indiana auto insurance rates probably will be revised to penalise the young motorist, the state insurance department reported today,. A revised schedule of premiums arresting mostly eastern stock companies is expected to be filed soon. Insurance officials said they believed state commissioner Harry E. Wells would approve it within 30 days. . The eastern companies write about 15 percent of the state’s auto insurance, but if their rates change, all other companies probably will follow suit A schedule prepared for the eastern companies by the national bureau .of casualty underwriters replaces the present three classes for passenger cars, with seven. New rates are based bn a percentage of the present rate for cars used for business purposes. At present, the business rate is in Lake County, $57 in Terre Haute, $54 in Fort Wayne, South Bend, Evansville, Anderson, Muncie, Richmond, Kokomo, Lafayette, Elkhart, Michigan City, Jeffersonville ' and New Albany, and $46 in all other cities and rural areas.
