Mrs. George Rentz whs named temporary chairman, and Mrs.,; Win, Ger nand secretary. The meeting. Wajfi called as a result off a survey made by the afternoow group of the Missionary society,; which showed a definite internet'in having an evening organization. The survey committee; composed. of Mrs. Louis Jacobs, Mrs. William Schriepf and Mrs. Kenneth Schnepf; conducted the meeting. The officers of \ the afternoon group Mere present and Mrs. Ji. EPSILON SIGMA SORORITY CONVENES The Epsilon Sigma sorority enjoyed a picnic at Hanna-Nuttman park Wednesday evening. A short business meeting was conducted. The decision was made to send LaVonnei Hobbs and Rosie Noonan, as \delegates, to the state convention which will be held October 9, JO, 11 at the Sheraton hotel in Chicago. Plans were also made so the coming rush tea, Octobpr 4,at the Elks’ home. During the social hour an auction was held. Rev. Busse To Be Honored On Sunday x 4Qth Anniversary Os His Ordination Sunday evening the members , of fit. Paul’s Lutheran noiigregation, Preble, will gather for a special service to honor their pastor, the Rev. Otto C. Busse, on the 40th anniversary of his ordinatiop into the holy ministry*. The

Ret. W'alter G. Schwehn of St John’s Lutheran church, Decatur road, will deliver the special anniversary message. The Rev. Har- ’ ry Behning, Bethlehem Lutheran church, north of Tocsin, will serve , os liturgist, and Frank C.Schmiege of the Preble Lutheran church will preside at the organ and direct the cholt. R#v. Busse was born in Fort Wayne, December 4, 1889. He attendee! Concordia College, Fort Wayne, and Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., graduating from the latter Institution in 1913. After his graduation he was called \to the pastorate of St. Paul’s. Lutheran church, San Antonio, Texas. From there he came to St. John’s Lutheran church, Rochester. During World War I he served as army chaplain at Camp Sherman, Ohio. After the war he < became pastor of Zion Lutheran church, Schnectady, N.Y., where 1 he served until the beginning of World War 11, when he; .again became a chaplain in the U.S. army. In 1947 Rev. Busse accepted nthe call to become pastor of his present charge northwest of Prei ble. ! '< - ’ \ it. <n addition to his pastorates and army service; Rev. Busse served the Atlantic district of the Lutheran church-Missouri synod as stewardship secretary for a number of years. At present tie serves as pastoral chairman of the Decatur circuit of the Lutheran church, and is a member of the armed services commission of the Lutheran synod. Rev. Busse is a member also of the American Legion, having served as state chaplain. Rev. Busse was married to the former Helen Miller of Fort Wayne. Mrs. Busse died in 1941. He has one daughter, Mrs. Roland Hartel, of North Caldwell, N- J-. and three grandchildren. i —

Rally Day, Back To Church Sunday Rally day and back to Sunday will be observed in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church Sunday The church school, under the leadership of Victor Kiess, general superintendent and Mrs. Harry Houk, junior superintendent, will observe promotion Sunday. All classes will assemble in the sanctuary for the opening of the school at 9 a. m. All teachers and families of the school are i urged to be present and on time. The worship will begin at 10 A. m. The pastor the Rev. William C. Feller, will be in charge of the service and will preach on the; theme. "The Challenge of the 1 Church.” The senior choir will be hack in the service to lead the singing and provide the special music. Under the direction of Mrn. L. A. Holthouse, the choir will sing, "Church of God, Awhke!” by Gabriel. Mrs. J. Fred Fruchte will be at the organ. All members and friends of the church are invited to make this rally day a success by being present in the spir't of worship. \ The youth fellowship will hold its opening meeting of the fall season ot 6 p. m. Reports on the recent synodical fall retreat will be given and election of offficers will take place. Mr. and Mrs. La urea Meyers and Miss Harriet Gerber will serve as counsellors for the year. All services will be on central standard time. , Eagles To Initiate Class Here Sunday The Decatur lodge of Fraternal Order of Eagles will hold an initiation ceremony Sunday afternoon at 1:80 o’clock for 20 new members, it was announced today by lodge officers. The Paulding 0., degree team will again do the honorb at the local lodge. This is the second class to be initiated in the last month and will bring the total of new members to 45 for the last 30 days. Several local members attended the district meeting at Huntington September 32 where it was announced the Decatur lodge waj the first in the district /to make its membership quota for the first quarted of the year.
