MONROE BETTER HOMES CLUB ENJOYS PICNIC The annual picnic and pot-luck supper of the Monroe Better Homes club was held at the home 4>t Mrs, Oka Geiser of'Toneto recently; |Follow;ing the supper, seventeen members and seven visitors answered roll call with “what % 1 would like myejub to do." Mrs. Ervin Stucky, president, called the meeting, to order. Mrs. Loren Burkhead. Jr., led the group in singing the club prayer and the creed. Devotions were by Mrs. Geiser, who also told the story, "Opening the Refrigerator . Door.” Leaders Mrs. Harry Crownover and Mrs. Doris Burkhead gave an interesting account of their trip 1 to Purdue and Mrs. Eva Brewster gave the .history of the organization. beginning with its founding in 1931. ■ ' I- J® was v °ted to be donated to the mental health fund and to pay , the expenses of the leaders’ trip to Purdue. \ 4- '4 IE Delegates Attend I Church Conference t District Meeting Held At Salamonie Miss _ Victoria Stoneburner,; Joseph Baumgartner and Lloyd C.lowser were delegates from the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren to the Middle Indiana* <|is|rict meeting held at the Salamonie church in Huntington county last week. Special group meetings were conducted throughout '; the conference for children’s workers, women’s work, men’s work,, yßuth work, rural life, ministers aftd elders, as well as others.. -4|} Thirty four churches of the 37 in the district were represented by 73 delegates. These tives considered the program of the church and discussed the problems which confront ChfHstiandom. The need for new'phuiliphes and ministerial recruitment was emphasized -with growing confern. The area of Christian education was lifted up in regard; td evangelism, Christian growth’, jfimily life, world peace, tgmpgrance, stewardship and leadership gaining. f 1 ’ The Rev. Russell Wbller, secretary of ru,ral life department, stressed .the importance of, giving assistance to young couples jn locating and becoming established [on the farm. Two Persons Injured As Auto Overturns’ Twa persons were Injured last I. night when the ear they were in rgji out of control six miles south on L< S. highway 27, at the curve north of Coppess Corners, and • rolled ,over. Injured were Luben Lazoff, 19. 1 Kort Wayhe, head injury, and Georgie Helms, 24, Bluffton, ahbek leg injury. TJie driver, Charles Nicodemus, 19, also Vqr Fort Wayne, was uninjured. Those hurt Were taken to the Adams county rfieitiorial hospital, treated ana dismissed. The accident, happened, according to sheriff Bob Rhrgluka who investigated, when Nicodemus missed the turn as hie went north on the federal highway, rolled over htTproxim'ately three times' and; stopped in a field.
