UNION CHAPEL W. S. W. S. MEETS RECENTLY ■Members of the Union Chapel church W. S. W. SI met recently ■with Mrs. Glen Roughia for a regular meeting. Mrs. Florence Bauryan acted as leader and used as her topic, “We share the Good News in New Ways/’ A hymn, "Take Time to he Holy’’ was given as an accordion aolo by Mrs. Earl Chase. After a reading given by the leader. Mrs. Chase sang a number followed with Mrs. Thurman Drew giving scripture and Mrs. Lawrence Norris leading in prayer. A clever skit was then given with Mrs. Bauman acting as the announcer. Mrs. Robert Folk taking the part of Mr. Mission Board Executive and Mrs. Don Smith as Mrs. Typical Missionary. The business meeting was in charge of vice president, Mrs. Bauman, who announced the fall W. S. W. S. institute for Sept. 28 with the Berne Evangelical United Brethren church acting as. the host church. . Mrs. C. O. Brbwn dismissed the thirteen members and four guests. The next meeting will be/ held with Mrs. Don Smith with Mrs. Omer Merriman acting as program leader. SALEM HOMECOMING HELD SUNDAY . The annual homecoming of Blue Creek township, sponsored by the Salem M. E. church, -was held Sunday with more than 150 people present. The morning included a sabbath school and church with

a basket dinner following at noon. Mrs. Maud Merriman offered the dinner prayer. President Floyd Myers conducted the afternoon business meeting. The song; “A Church in Jhe Wilderness” was voiced byTtlfose present, followed with the opening address, which was given by Austin Merriman. Ted Campbell gave the response and closed with a poem entitled “The Value of Mr«I Alice Hansen . sang a number, after which Mrs. Tickle gave a reading on “The Churches.” Olive Kreigh talked on ‘‘The Old Church and s the New” with, remarks following by Omer Meriflman. Mr. and Mrs. John Davis. Fort Wayne, sang a duet, entitled “Never Grow Old.” Another reading was presented by Vera Ticket followed with a song by the Merriman sisters. Arthur Bartling gave a short talk and Lowell Smith led the closing prayer, followed with congregational .singing, DICK REUNION HELD SUNDAY IN BLUFFTON The Wells County State park was the scene Sunday of the annual Dick reunion. Officers named for the year were president/ Elmer Beer; vice-president. {lohn Linn; and secretary - treasurer. Mrs. John Linn. A basket dinner was enjoyed at noon and refreshments were served throughout the day. lesson on faith. Interesting articles were given by Mrs. Young and Mrs. Chester Bryan. The Lord’s prayer recited in unison closed the meeting. The Antioch Lutheran church at Hoagland is having an ice cream social and bake sale on the church lawn Saturday evening beginning five o’clock. The menu will consist of chicken and noodles, baked Heaps, potato salad, chicken, hamburger and weiner sandwiches, pie, cake, ice cream; and coffee. A truck load of Michigan peaches also will be sold. Ip case of rain, the social will be in the church. Fire Causes $70,000 Damage To Factory H■’ TERRE HAUTE. UP — A started by a spark from a welding torch swept through Vigo Metal Products. Inc., Monday, doing an estimated $70,000 damage. Firemen battled the blaze nearly . three hours. Damage included about $50,000 to the contents of the building, including a dump truck which was destroyed when a gasoline tank melted and exploded.
