MEETS RECENTLY A recent meeting of the Calvary W.S.W.S. opened with group singing the hymn, “1 Need Thee Every’ Hour”. Bessie Koos then gave the 25th chapter of Matthew as the scripture lessen and prayer followed by the Rev. IM. Finley. A short business' session was held and the closing hymn was “Open My Eyes that 1 May See”. The hostesses, Clara Hindenlang and Lorena Litzhenberger served a lunch during the social hour. Mrs. Florence Yager, 26 was seriously injured Friday when her car crashed intq a ditch on Theile road near Ossian after blowing a tire. Twenty fence posts\were torn down. Mrs. Yager received five broken ribs on the right side of the chest, a fractured right leg and several bad cuts about the head and face. Her ten months old son. riding in the back seat received only minor bruises. They were taken to the Lutheran hospital. Believe Raper Might Have Murdered Woman PONTIAC, Mich. UP —-Pontiac police said today they. believed a 200-poupd man who raped a 16-year-old girl Saturday night was responsible for the sex-slaying of a 55-year-old woman whose body was found in a vacant lot. The girl, her hands tied behind her back with one of her own stockings, kicked at? the door of Henry Manz shortly before midnight Saturday. UP — Thieves exploded a safe at Teibel’s restaurant at the intersection of U. S. Highways 30 and 411 today and stole $6,000 to $7,000 in weekend receipts. Police said the robbery took place shortly after midnight. The thieves dragged the safe into a refrigerated room at the restaurant, apparently to mufEe the noise of the explosion. Cut Is Ordered In State Travel Cost INDIANAPOLIS UP — Governor Craig today ordered an SBO,OOO a year reduction in funds available for paying travel expenses of state employes. . His staff called j it an “economy move.” Budget Director Don H. Clark said it was in addition to a percentage reduction which saved Indiana $40,000 during the three months starting last April. The state paid more than $2,561,500 for employe travel in 1951 and 1952,. Clark said, and Craig hopes to reduce it.
