St. John's Church Will Honor Pastor Mark 40 Years Os Ministry Service ST. JOHN’S CHURCH m St. John’s Lutheran church, Decatur road, route 1, will honor its pastor, the Rev. Walter G. Schwehn, Sunday evening tor 40 years of service in the ministry of the Lutheran church —Missouri synod. The anniversary service will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran church. The Rev. Otto C. Busse, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Prdble, chairman of the Decatur circuit Lutheran churches and classmate of the celebrant, is in charge oT the arrangements for the anniversary servlcg, and will preach the sermon, for the service of praise and thanksgiving., The Rev. Albert A. Fenner, pastor of Zion church, Friedheiin, will serve as liturgist; f and the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, pastor of the local Zion Lutheran church, will represent the Decatur circuit of congregations of which Rfev. Schwehn is a member. Music for the service will be furnished by the choir of .St. John’s church, under the direction of William E. Uffelman, church organist. 3 Rev. Schwehn was ordained into the Lutheran ministry at Fort Wayne at Trinity Lutheran church on August 24, 1913 by the Rev. Paul Stoeppelworth. , His first field of activity was as missionary in the Negro missions of North Carolina. From 1913 to 1921 be served as pastor of Grace Lutheran church, Concord, N. C.; as superintendent of the southeastern mission field of the Lutheran church—Missouri synod; and as instructor in Immanuel Lutheran college for the colored, Greensboro, N; C. In 1921 Rev. Schwehn accepted the charge „of St.> John’s Lutheran church, Philadelphia, Pa., where he served until 1927, whefj he became pastor of St. John’s church, Hannibal, MO. For the past three years Rev. Schwehn has served St. John's congregation, known as the Biiigen church- He is also serving jthe church at large as a member of the mission board of the central district of the Lutheran church — Missouri synod. 1 . i September 3. 19p Rev. “Schwehn was united in marriage with Miss Lydia Mueller, of St. Louis. Schwehn, Jr., in Korea; and the Misses Mary and Martha Schwehn at home. » Camp Alexander Mack Will Open Sunday Camp Alexander Mack at Milford, will open with a mass meeting Sunday.
