;— Gen. Clark Confers With Syngman Rhee Clark Seeks End To Bitter Opposition SEOUL, Kdrea UP Gep. Mark W. Clark speht two hours in secret conference with President ■ Syngman Rhee today, trying to end the bitter opposition of South Korea to any peace tvhich leaves! Korea divided. : It was indicated the conference might determine whether any armistice on! which the_J_Uniied Nations and the Communists agree will work out; satisfactorily.! Clark returned to his! Tokyo headquarters after his conference, refusing to discuss it. But it seemed clear thq U. N. may find it tougher to sell Rhee on the Allied truce plan than to convince the . Communists they should accept it. Rhee bitterly opposes any settlement which would leave Korea divided between his South Koreans and the Communist - dominated North Koreans'. Government - sponsored rallies, opposing any peape which permits continued Communist rule in North Korea, are being held in every city and village in the south. Banners proclaiming “give us unification or death" are plastered on buildings hnd homes. Some Republic of Korea Officials even hint the South Korean army, now consisting of two-thirds of the U. N. fighting strength?, should fight on alonb if the U. N? accepts a truce which leaves this country divided. ‘ * .—;——... — 700 Persons Visit i t Model Home Sunday More than! 700 persons visited the K. and S model home located just of Decatur on Monrofe street extended during the open house hours Sunday afternoon. ..
