ALUMNI BANQUET TO BE HELD AT PLEASANT MILLS i Saturday evening ct seven thirty o'clock, an alumni banquet will be held at the Pleasant Mills school according to the president, Jim Price. TJfo twenty two' seniors of this year’s graduating class •will be special guests. • Oscar Yost. Fort Wayne, and former student of the school, will as toastmaster, for the evening. Special entertainment consisting of music, comedy and dancing will follow the dinner served by the P. T. All proceeds from the affair will go towards the public address system for the gym which ■will be installed next fall. ROADSIDE COUNCIL TO MEET FRIDAY AT The Fort Wayne district Roadside council meeting will ibe held Friday at ths. I. M. Building at •Marion. KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB MEETS RECENTLY A regular monthly meeting of the Kirkland Lhdies club was held recently with, the president opening the meeting with the reading of a poem. Devotions were given by Mrs. Lydia Arnold and Mrs. Laura Mankey recited a poem entitled “Accordion.’ 1 The members voted to take a trip in June for a day w ith the date; announced at a later time. » Twenty eight members answered roll call and six guests were also present. At eight o’clock a public auction sale.with Ned Johnson as the auctioneer, will be Os interest to everyone as all kinds of baked goods, crafts, shrubbery and sewing will be sold. Cake walks for the children and adults will also be an evening feature. - Hot dogs, candy, pop. popcorn, coffee and ice cream will be sold during the day. All proceeds will be used to pay the leadens expenses to the conference at Purdue University. No admission will be charged and the public is urged to attend .the all day affair. P. T. A. MEETING THURSDAY EVENING A physical education demonstration by the fifth and sixth grades of the Lincoln school is the program being planned for the P. T. A. meeting Thursday evening. A business meeting will precede the program. The new officers of the P. T. A. will be installed during this last meeting before summer vacation, and are as follows: Dr. James Burk, president; Mrs. Charles Magley, vice-president: Chester Dalzell, secretary, and Mrs. Doyle Collier, treasurer. The program will be under the direction of Steve Everhart and Miss (Rebecca Walters and will be given in the gymnasium. MOTHER-DAUGHTER BANQUET HELD TUESDAY EVENING Approximately 128 guests attended the mother and daughter banquet Tuesday evening at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church. Mrs. Charles Beineke was chairman of the party and assisting here were Mrs. Russell Brittson,.Mrs. Charles Brodbeck, Mrs. Fred Brokaw. Mrs. Albert Brushwiller and Mrs. George Buckley. Appointments it), keeping with the program and consisting of Mothers Hands with African violets and pansies were used on the tables. Following the dinner, the Girls Guild with Mrs. Robert Houk as leader, presented a program of music, poetry and speech piying tribute to mothers. Among thos« participating were the Misses Nattcy Kirsch, Sunya Stucky, Naomi Kirchhofer, Marilyn. Jaberg, Kathryn Koelz, Barbara Heller, Mary Lehman, Marilyn Kirschenbauer, Jane Uhrick, Joyce Ann Franklin, Barbara Heller and Nola Lehman. Closing this part of the program were two solos sung by Miss Sharlene Lehman, and Miss Willa Mae Goelz playing “Home Sweet Home" on the violin, and group singing.
