Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Stucky returned yesterday from Bradenton, Fla., where they spent the winter. He was in a fall and yas confined to the hospital for keverat weeks. Grant St., will have a guest speaker at the morning worship Services Sunday Matthew Sakio Ikeda, native Japanese who was converted to Christianity by An-I drew Patton, a Church of Christ missionary. When Patton returned to the; \Unlted States on furlough, Ikeda came with him and enrolled In the Cincinnati Bible Seminary to prepare himself for Christian leadership among his own people. Although Ikeda is young in years be has a keen insight into world problems and the present struggle between Communistn and Democracy. Three Youths Fined For Petit Larceny Three of the five youths involved in the alleged theft of a r tire and wheel from the Berne Oil Co., Friday morning, pleaded guilty to a charge of petit iarcehy in Mayor s court late Friday afternoon and were sentenced tQ 10 days in the county jail and fined, together >ls and costs. Their names are Joseph Mace, 18, and Dale Allan Kraase,* 18, both of Detroit, and William D. Hirst, 19, of Plymouth, -Mich. . T*wo juveniles in the lease vere remanded to the county jail by Judge Myles F. Parrish pending a hearing on a juvenile petition. r\ ‘ ' Helm's Auto Figures In Fatality A car driven by James Helm, Decatur and a tractor operated by Eldon Preston, 48, Pleasant township. Ohio, figured in a mishap Friday three miles south of Convoy, which resulted in the death of Preston. Both vehicles were headed south and snow had made the pavement slippery and' visibility poor. The car driven \by Helm struck the rear 9V the 1 Preston tractor. Preston wks returning his trac-' tdr from Convoy, where he had 1 taken it for repairs. He had gone about half \way to his residence when the accident occurred. The accident occurred on Ohio state road 49, and Ohio state police and Van Wert county officials are investigating the fatality. Helm was held for questioning.. April 19 To 251 s State Library Week April 19-25 has. been designated as Indiana library week; it was announced today by Miss Bertha Heller, Decatur librarian. The week will be observed by open 1 houses at public libraries throughout the state and the piiblic ik invited to visit the library and learn of the many services offered. Indiana University also is conducting a wprkshop for librarians in connection with observance of the week andJtfiss Heller will attend the sessions at Blbomington Thursday and Friday, April 23 add 24. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge led by Judith Carpenter, followed by the reading of the minutes from the last meeting. A discussion of future meetings was then held and it was decided to appoint three or four girls at each meeting to be hostesses ‘ and reserve the dues for an achievement trip to be taken at the (close of the season, the place toj be announced later. A demonstration was given on eup cakes by Sharon Michand and Sharon idlewine. The niext meeting will be April 24. (Refreshments were served by Vera Walters and the meeting was dismissed. Clauser. of the Missionary circuit, of Berne, died at 4:30 p. m.‘Friday at the Adams county memorial 1 hospital. She had been bedfast for the past six years. She was born in Fleetwood, Pa., Oct. 12, 1872. a daughter of Jacob and Fyetta Stoneback-Gahret, apd was married Dec. 31, 1892. Mrs. Clauser was a member of the First Missionary church at Berne. ’ ' 1 . ' t Surviving are her husband; five, sons. Norman R. of Fort Wayne. Warren of South Bend, Myron J. and Alfred E,. both of Berne, and Edgar of Fort Wayne; one daughter. Mrs. Arley Wulliman of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren: nine greatgrandchildren; one sister.
