The priae was for the labors pf the entire Gerke family. They were pioneers in the Adams county program of lime-fertilizer forage and milkchecks. and have won mapy awards and medals on their Holstein herd. They also came in first in the fiveacre corn contest and last year won the dairy efficiency award. Their winning bull has six proved daughters and a milk production of 16,820 pounds and 582 pounds of butterfat. Next to take honors for Adams county was Holman Egly for excellence in tomato growing. Egly’s field has been the building of the soil, which for his 70 percent county No. 1 topiatoes ih 613.36 tons to\the acre. Tie began his soil building project six years ago and carried it out by applying lime as needed and pouring in the fertilizer ?o small grain, hay and rotation pastures. V The name of Paul Yodef; the last Adams winner, is familiar to the entry lists at county fairs held aid through th issectlon.
