■ 1 ’ J- . \ Good Friday, Easter Services Planned Special Services At Zion Reformed Zion and Reformed church will serve as the host church for the Union Good Friday three-hour service, sponsored by the Decktur ministerial association. Thli servtce will begin at 12 noon, and will continue until 3 p.m. ( ' A candlelight communion service will be held Good Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Hturgy-can-tata, “The Message of the Cross,” will be presented. Scripture readings by the minister, responsive readings by minister and congregation, interspersed with appropr rlate music by the choir, will tel| the story of the suffering and crucifixion of the Christ. The service will proceed as follows: part one, the message of praise; the preparatory service for the Holy Communion; part two: the message. of suffering -r Gethsemane, trial; Calvary; the administration of the Holy Communion; part three: the message of Cross. The pastor, the Rev. William C. Feller will be in charge of the service. The ' senior choir will he under the direction of Mrs. L. A. Holthouse, and MijS. J. Fred Fruchte will preside at the organ. Soloists for the cantata will be Mrs. N. A. Arnold, Mrs. Myron Haggard and Neil Thorpas. Easter morning services will begin with the youth service at (? a.sn. in the Church of God. with young people froai the co-operat-ing churches participating. Church school will open at 9 a.m. Children from the beginners, primary and junior departments will present special Easter numbers. Individual class periods will ( be shortened. The festival service of worship will begin at 10 a.m. The choir and confirmation class will form the processional, joining'with the congregation in singing, “Christ the Ix>rd (is Risen' Today.” Now members will be received and Holy Communion will be served to the confirmation class and others unable to commune on GOod Friday evening. The Easter message will bd given by the pastor, on the theme, “The Day of Victory.” Special music will include a solo, ‘‘Open ti»e Gates of- the Temple” by Knapp, sung by 'Neil Thomas: an anthem. “Easter Dawn” by the senior choir. An infant baptismal service will be held following the close of the morning service. All members of the church and friends are invited to worship in the services of this church.
