Jobless Pay Claims Unchanged In State INDIANAPOLIS UP -- Jobless pay claims and new placements remained about the same last week ; despite an increase in nop-farm job openings, the Indiana employment security division slaid today. The 17,862 unemployment Insurance claims received about equalled , those of the preceeding but were 7,000 below that of the same
week a year ago. The report said layoffs were small and scattered during the past week while hiring activity increased. Infantrymen SEOUL, Korea (UP) —-American infantrymen battled through a ring of Chinese Communists today to rescue an outnumbered U. S. patrol that> made a seven-hour stand in the winter’s . heaviest snowfall to break up a Red attack. 1 Snow fell all along the 155-mile front. It ranged from eight inches in the west to; 14 inched in the east. Atlanta, Ga.’, will be the guest preacher in the fifth service of the Sunday evening Lentea series et ?rently being held at the First Methodist church.
