Hope, R-Kans., chairman of the house agriculture committee, said today government is considering buying beef for the national school lunch program. That was part of a four-point program recommended last Friday by a house agriculture subcommittee to bolster cattle pricesj Hope said the full agriculture committee unanimously approved the four-point plan today. Other proposals celled for government regulation of imports, increased military buying, and for extending credit to cattlemen to avert forced sates. Hope l said the agriculture department has funds available with W'Hjch it could buy beef Cor donation to the federally-subsidized school lunch program. “We all realize that a comparatively small amount would be involved,” Hope said, but hej said the department is studying the proposal.
