Commodores Score Wm Over Adams Central By 10 Points Last Night I
Greyuuuuus or Adams Central high went hungry at the hands of 'Dave Terveer’s Commodores at Pleasant Mills last night to findthe’ canines licking their wounds fqrl the 11th time this season |n the shadows of a 60-50 defeat. The; Commodores, incidentally, will re-! tain the county trophy, “The Limberlost Bell,” until the resumption of play next November. This victory clinched it. By far the most important scoring factor in the game was the foul. Also the thing that slowed up tijo game so much neither team could do its stuff, if it had ahy stuff. The Commodores have to credit 28 of their 60 points to tree shots, Adams Central must do the same Awith 22 of their 50 credits. | ',■■■[ Significantly, Decatur’s Gass was called on a foul after the clock had traveled only two seconds. First period play was a slow exhibition with neither side getting ub any steam. Brunton of the Commodores was high scorer and did the best in the initial, coming up with six points. His total was 20. Adams Central had.no “strong man” to lean on. Their high scorer, Hearq counted 14 at thy final., Though the Cbmmodores trailed at each intermission, they had more power than their opponents. Four men got the heave ho on personals in the last period, Dick, Beer, Nussbaum and Arnold, •' The closely-watched imp of the Commodores, Steve Gass., did most; of his damage bn free shots, net-' tiag only two held goals in his 15 points. . , Johnny York’s goal in the first ’minutes- of the |ast period marking the beginning of the Commodore? rally that saw them pull ahead by 7 - 11 points, thei? greatest margihWith, ten \seconds left in the the Greyhounds were trying to close the gap to less than Ip points,'at 'which, by the score, they did not succeed, thus stowing aWay the Liiibberlost bell safely in the Deca- ’ tur Catholic) trophy case until next November."]: i The Commodoies are at home next Friday night, February 20,, for their laSt.gahie of the.season, Lan j caster Central.
