WARD CALLAND HOSTESS TO TRI KAPPA Mrs. Ward Cal land was hostess to members of Associate Tri Kappa Tuesday evening Miss Frances Dugan presiding over the business session. \ - A surprise birthday shower fob lowed for Mrs. Dawrepce Linn, who was presented with many gifts accompanied by clever and origin-, al Valentine verses. The tea table was. beautifully appointed with a large birthday cake. KIRKLAND W. C. T. U. ' MEETS RECENTLY A regular meeting was 'held re- • cently by the Kirkland Township W. C. T. U. at the home of Mrs. Harvey Haggard. Ten members and one child were present for the program. Mrs. Alice Carper gave scripture readings, followed with prayer by Mrs. Lucinda Yager. A report on the Union Signal was presented and a short history of the 41fe of Frances Willard was given by the president, Vickie Stoneburner. Mrs. Warper gave an interesting talk on visual aid and Mrs. John Detwiler gave the lesson study. Refreshments .were then served by the ! hostess, Mrs. Haggard. BUSINESS MEETING HELD BY D. A. V. AUXILIARY A regular business meeting twas held Wednesday evening at the , D. A. I Purdue Professor's Wife Suicide Victim LAFAYETTE, Ind. UP — The body of Mrs. Amanda Jo Avery, 28, s wife of a Purdue University instructor, was found Wednesday hanging from a garage rafter at her home suspended by’ a clothesline rope. Tippecanoe county corriner Dr.’ Ramon B. Du Bois said it was suicide. 'Mrs. Avery was the wife of • James P. Avery. The couple had two children.
