■ * \ 'ij- ■■' ’ Handicraft School In Decatur Friday Teachers Named For Handicraft School Name of teachers ‘ and directors for learners for Friday’s handicraft school were announced today. Rug making, chair caneing, knitting and metal modeling instructions are being offered to all interested at the Decatur fire station both morning and afternoon. Rug making at this will be of the braided variety. Mrs. Oscar Meshberger of Linn Grove will show students how to cut and braid their rags. She will also teach the technique of. joining these braids into rugs with an invisible stitch that makes the rugs ‘ reversible and long wearing. Those who wish to learn this craft should bring some old wool material for riigs, scissor!*, needle, and thimble. Hooked rug making will be included in the Jan. 26 session. jIL Mrs. Leonard Schwaller will assist those who want to weave cane seats in chairs. Mrs. Schwiller of Monroe has had much experience in this work. Cane in a variety of sizes Will be available at cost at the school. Those-who wish to cane should bring one chair. A hammer and nut picks are helpful. . L j Knitters will receive instructions from Mrs. Noel Hemphill of Berne. They should bring some scrap yarn and needles. v j Metal modeling will be in charge of Gloria Koeneman, 4-H club agent. Material for this craft will be available at t the school. L , Il Adams County Roads All Reported Open All Adams county roads are ope® and most of them are in good condition since the Monday and Tuesday snow, a check-up revealed today. All available highway employes have been working constantly on the roads and all plows were sent into operation at the start of snow. Superintendent Frank Singleton issued a warning, how- . ever, for all persons to drUre care}fully because there are numerous slippery places on the roads. Road centers have been worn down to the surface on most of the highways, arid this adds to the /lan-j ger of winter driving, because it is necessary to turn onto the slippery part of the road when passing another vehicle, Singleton said. Work will continue during the winter months to maintain traffic on all county roadst it was said and with the present equipment it is believed that all roads can be kept open at all times, barring a viery heavy snow. 14-Month-Old Girl Is Choked To Death INDIANAPOLIS UP — Fourteen-monCh-old Sandra L.
