Evangelist Graham Urges Prayer Day Urges Day Os Prayer To End Korean War TOKYO UP y Evangelist Billy Graham I ?said today he would urge Presidentelect Dwight Eisenhower to declare a “day of prayer” fdr God’s help in ; finding a proper solution to the Kbrean War. The young evangslist, who returned Friday from a tour of Korea, said he saw “no pin-ups, butj many, many Bibles.” \ “The closer to the front, the more Bibles there were,” Graham said. ' ! ■He said he was heartened by the reception he received in Korea and by the high morale of the troops at the front. lie was nbt so impressed by the troops stationed in Japan, £e said. Graham disclosed at an informal luncheon that he has cancelled plans for an around-the-world trip and will return to the United States after visiting Gormosa, Hong and the Philippines. . The evangelist recalled that a resolution passed by congress last year authorized a special day of prayer. He hoped Eisenhower would \ proclaim such a day of prayer. Religion, he said, is bne of the keystones in yie fight against Communism. He added: " I'here are three thjngs the Communists fear most: “1. Strong military power. Ours must be kept at a peak. “2. A revival of religion. It is in evidence and we must inten-i sify it. \ “3. An intelligent expose of the heart, and mind of Communism; a planned op Communism, on the ideologjy ahd psychology of it.”' < ■- “Communism,” Graham said, “is essentially a f piritual force and it requires a spiritual force to combat it.” - He that Eisenhower would go down in history as the greatest president. “Hei>certainly will jiaive to make the most jnomenfous decisions and he needs i the prayers of the people to give him understanding andi strength,” he said. y Graham and his party leave Tokyo tonjght. They will go to' Formosa, Hong Kong and the Philippines, leaving Manila on Wednesday for Hawaii where the evengelist says he plans to stay a few days “to rest and meditate” on what he has learned in the. Far East. i HOLIDAY DEATH '<■•«•»in II’«l rn.m I';•*:<• One) of travel yby holiday- fun-seekers, highway officials feared a sharp jump. 1 ’. j u. nTraTders (Continued From Paice One) 4 Ridge on the~western front?" *” All across the front Friday Allied patrols and outposts reported the Communists had beefed up their patrols.
