Yellow Jackets Hand Columbia City Eagles 67-50 Defeat Tuesday

Bob WOrthman’s Decatur Yellow Jackets handed him a most welcome Christmas present Tuesday night, wbelT they raced their way to a 67-50 triumph over the Columbia City Eagles* at thr Decatqr gym. The victory was the 'third Northeastern Indiana conference victory for the Jackets in as many start# and brought them up td the bO-5O mark with four triumphs as against: as many 16sses. And Gene "Morrison was the biggest Santa of them all as the veteian. <but small guard, poured 31 big points through the meshes, giving the Jacket vet a mark of 70 points in his last two games. Don Rondeau gave the Eagles a» start wßth his only field goal of the game, tout Gene Vetter came back with one to knot the count, and the same player’s -free throw put the Jackets ahead to stay. \ Veitter’s six pplpts, his sum total, of the game, pushed the Jacket# into a 17-11 lead at the first quarter. Spartans Mark Up lOfh Win Without Loss The Pleasant Mills §partans, although without the services of Bud Case, regular center, rolled on to their 10th victory of the season without defeat Tuesday night, whipping the Willshire, 0., Bearkatz, 6039, at Willshire. . The Spartans held leads of only 13-7 at the first quarter and 19-16 at the half but pulled away to a 37-24 margin at the third period. Les Painter’s 21 points topped the Spartans, followed by Jerry Price with 17. No Willshire player scored more than seven ppints. Cas.e suffered a broken foot in practice last week but may be able to return to action in time for the county tourney Jan. 15-16-17. The appeal was taken from ■Eari De Wald’s ustice of the peace court at Geneva, and charged that Tlaines ran a stop sign where Butcher street meets U. B. highway 27 in Geneva. Yesterday, the court upheld a motibn to quash the affidavit, stating the affidavit to be “ambiguous . . . not stating a public offense.” x DeWald’s affidavit stated the affair took place "at or about 10 panand Hfiplm,,” at which time Haines “ran the stop sign.” DeiVaJd, however; according to the court, didn’t mention whether Haines was driving a car at the time or. was a pedestrian.
