U. S., Britain Propose Change In India Plans Modifications To ■j Indian Peace Plan Agreed To Today UNITED NATIONS, N. Y.. UP —The United States and Britain were in agreement today on modifications to make India’s compromise Korean peace plan acceptable to the West. ‘ J \ : The modifications. Were put forward in the United: Nations main political committee Thursday by Britain’s Anthony Eden and quickly endorsed informally by Aikerican sources. But there were no indications that\ V, K. Those desiring repatriation would get it. Those resisting it would be sheltered and fed for 90 days, whereafter their fate wquld be decided by a top-level Far Eastern political conference provided for ;ln the tentative agreement reached at Panmunjom. ‘ - !j } Eden suggested 4hesei changes: 1. The umpire” should be made a permanent member of the repatriation commission instead of being called on only to solve deadlocks when they arisa. The ’fifth member presumably would be' chosen by the general assembly at the same time it approves the appointment of the other four. The predominant Western majority of the assembly would be likely to give the west the voting edge in the commission, observers reasoned. At from the Western viewpoint; the fifth!power would be none more unfriendly to the West than India. , 2. Instead of referring the ultimate fate of the recalcitrant pris-
